I don't think Burdick can get past the whiffing issue. Would love to be wrong, but don't know how that kind of thing gets fixed.

I'm with you. I'd say the fix is, he survives at a 25% whiff rate against left handers, under 35% against right handers, and can hit 20 bombs doing that in around 400-450 PA. It's an ugly over 30% overall K rate, but if he is producing a mid .800 OPS vs LHP / and can get close enough .700 vs RHP, that will play with a solid defensive corner OF even if it's slugging heavy. That's a very solid platoon partner with the right RHP basher who can play some defense (cough Sanchez please hit .250/.300/.475 already vs RHP). I get their idea here of maybe not trading the house for an OF even if I don't like it and want to win more games now.

That being said, Bleday is up to .316/.429/.643 (.312 BABIP), 16.8% BB, 12.6% K (last year 28% K rate) in 119 PA with 7 bombs. Maybe they should hire Oakland's AAA hitting coach to fix DLC, Sanchez, Burdick, and Jerar because that Bleday slash is magical. I am starting to get a bad feeling Bleday may have figured it out even if Puk is great.

mish for whatever reason says he's not giving anymore sixto updates. For close to a year now he has pretty much said he doesnt believe he will do much in a marlins uniform ever again. but for whatever its worth, the updates on sixto have gotten progressively better. Still in simulated games, but last i read he's now up to 2 innings. Id work him back as a reliever and try to just keep him healthy for the whole year and then maybe progress back up to starting next year, but whatever. If he can come back and be anywhere close to what he was as a prospect and in 2020, that's. huge addition no one was really counting on.
