We either need a rich owner that just spends whatever it'll take, or to transplant the entire Rays front office to us.

        I lean towards no.
Yes, but it'll probably take a larger ownership commitment for three successive epic drafts/IFA periods.

Big picture, I think the reality is setting in quickly next year is circled and that's probably why they didn't spend anything this offseason as moneybags won't spend a year early (or ever?). They can do *a lot* with this if they so choose:

        Fortes, ______
        Arraez, ________ (Berry)
        Segura (Edwards)
        ______, _______ (Amaya)
        ______, Berti (Cappe, Groshans)
        DLC
        Jazz
        _______, Garcia/Sachez/Burdick/Jerar (Mesa Jr.)

Sandy, Luzardo, Eury, Rogers, Cabrera (Fulton)
Meyer, Chargois, Brazoban, Sixto (Bender, Enright, Soriano, Nance)
Puk, Garrett, Eder, Nardi (Simpson, Monteverde(!))

They'll be able to trade Cooper, Soler, Floro, Scott, Okert, and Cueto minimum here to just beef up the FV45/FV40 tier of the farm a bit or get that 4th OF replacement. They *should* be able to afford two major free agents, and would have the pitching juice to trade 1 or 2 major arms for two more of those blank lines. The last two slots can probably just be backup 1 year types.

So ultimately, it' going to be up to them. The Rays have scored double the runs of them so they have a looooong ways to go offensively in really getting some significant upgrades here.

And if 5 of those pitchers above are hurt again, they kick the can until 2025 until everything goes right. As that is how they roll.

Maybe this is all a fool's errand though as Bleday looks awesome and everything must be questioned if Oakland fixed him that quickly.

Backing data that they aren't wrong - https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savan...-r-hitting-mlb

98th percentile OAA, 92nd outfield jump, 79 arm strength, 92 sprint speed. What an athlete.

He needs to radically cut down the whiffs, but he starts turning into a Varsho real quick with that defensive rating. Varsho was a 4.7 WAR player last year hitting .235/.302/.443 because of the stellar CF defense.

Needless to say, if we can assume Jazz is a 4+ WAR CF, they will have flipped having one of the worst CF situations to best very quickly. Would be a win among the sea of shit of this team.

Gotta love that we're already talking about kicking the can not to next year, but the year after.....

              Our organizational hitting sucks.

              • Segura, dlc, and stallings are so bad. The top of the order has done their job all year and those guys fucking stink. How they didn’t upgrade at catcher or the corner outfield spot all offseason is beyond me.

bleday also has 2 homers in 4 games already for Oakland. If they fixed him that quickly that says a lot about needing an entire organization over haul. I don’t even think you can blame it on just the minor league coaches as this spans different coaches over 6 years. This is a constant of this organization since this front office took over as Kim is really just a continuation of jeter and denbo. I think ng did a nice job in a lot of things over the offseason, but at some point she has to lose her job over how consistently bad the hitting is and how 0 guys continue to be developed

                • Stallings hitting .120 with a .380 OPS. But let me guess his stat cast shows he’s a breakout waiting to happen. I’m sure it will happen right after dlc’s. No amount of defense can make that bat passable. And it’s been blatantly obvious for 2 years

                        • Stallings now has a sub .200 batting average, obp and slugging percentage. Get him off the team

                            • Dlc hasn’t had a walk in 2 full weeks or an extra base hit in the last 15 days. 21 k’s in 2 weeks though. Other than the doubleheader where he had a bunch of doubles over 2 games against the Indians, he has not had any other extra base hits since April 9th. He is not a starting caliber player
