I definitely would want Edwards getting more ABs than DLC in this scenario though. Plus Edwards has got to be able to play a better LF than DLC.
Yep, this is the way. C, SS, OF/DH. They need 1,500 improved PA from those 3 spots.... and 1 can definitely be Soler on a qualifying offer.

I think the other 10 guys here are all coming back and there is confidence in the rest of the 40 man (see below) where they have 17 of their 20 bat 40 man spots already accounted for. This is a real solid group IMO.

    ____, Fortes (Banfield)
    Bell (Johnston)
    Arraez, Hampson (Nunez)
    ____, Berti (Amaya)
    Burger
    _____, DLC (Myers)
    Jazz, Edwards (Mesa Jr.)
    Sanchez (Burdick)

+ Berry and Cappe in AA if lighting strikes quickly for them

Jansen, Adames, and Soler is frankly a home run position player offseason if they can pull it off, and then devote all remaining resources to replace whatever pitching was traded to do it. Frankly, they are GOOD at that so blow it out for this offense and trust them to conjure up another 100 inning Thompson or Brazoban who somehow throws an ERA under 4. Do what you are good at, similar to the 2023 draft. Sandy be damned, they turned Garrett into close to a 3 WAR guy for christ's sake. Just find the pitching.

    • I also think Cabrera is poised for a big step forward next year. Obviously he was disappointing given the expectations this year, but i really do think he will take sandy type increments. Sandy went from a guy with crazy stuff but no control or command and once he harnessed it we all saw what happened. I went to the last spring game this year up in jupiter against the cardinals and their full normal mlb lineup and it was one of those days cabrera had his control and he looked unbelievable. Not sure what happened this year because he was so wildly inconsistent with the control, but i really do think he is going to take some major steps forward in the next 2 years. If they are going to move a piece for a bat, i really hope it is not him at this value when i think that value will go way up in the next year or 2. Even with all the control issues, he still had a decent enough XFIP, so look out if he puts it all together. Him, Luzardo, Sandy, Eury, Meyer, and Meyer X2 in the future is a hell of a rotation. Cant trade garrett with the pitching depth next year, but he might become a super valuable expendable piece in the next 2 years. Obviously a lot can happen in a year, but given what we may have ready to roll out in 2025, that could be the guy who goes and gets the final piece needed for the 2025 lineup.

If there is a guy i trust to get the most out of Cabrera, it would be Mel.
