  • He’s not confusing anyone, he’s once again overrating minor league stats by ignoring home stadium and age and looking at nothing into the context of good statistics

    • This guy did a twitter thread of the baseball america podcast on the marlins. Has some interesting tidbits and a lot of things i agree with that is the reason for my optimism towards the rebuild.

•Upside is well above other prospects, but highly volatile
•Interesting: after his strike out struggles, HE went to MIAMI and asked them how to fix it. Lower leg kick was part of solution

Pull up Fresno (AAA) stats for last season. Tyler White, JD Davis and Kyle Tucker all played there together. All three performed nearly identically. Tucker is entering his age 22 season. Davis 26 and White 28. Tucker is lauded for his numbers because they are great and he's young. White and Davis numbers were great for a hitter of any age. Now, White hit pretty well from the get-go with the Astros last season. Tucker and Davis didn't hit for shit in small samples. In Davis and Tucker you had giant OPS numbers at Fresno. Getting Tucker would cost JT Realmuto. Davis was a relative freebee. Does the age differential mean a lot? Pure speculation, but both of them have similar ability to produce at this time.

you're absolutely clueless as to how to evaluate minor league talent. How many times do you have to be beaten over the head with examples of why age and context for minor league statistics matters significantly before you stop just projecting minor league stats as if they are by itself predictive of major league potential?

            • Jon jay close to signing with White Sox likely in order to try and convince Machado to play there with 2 of his best friends so that ends Jon Jay talk as the FA OF of choice this year.

OK. Still plenty of other (and probably better) OF options available. I'd love for the Marlins to take a chance on signing Avisail Garcia on a 1 year deal. Carlos Gomez and Carlos Gonzalez also both make a lot of sense. And of course, Bryce Harper...

CWS stealing all of Miami's guys. Can't wait to see who they get in trades for him and the RP at the Deadline.

Miami isn't in a rush about FA more into dealing with JT

I wouldn’t sign anyone to 1 year deals until February or much closer to spring training like we did for Maybin last year. Makes no sense to do it right now given the way how the free agent market has developed the last few years

Exactly just saying they are getting all the guys Miami wanted. I would wait till last week of Feb right before ST opens. Sign 1 RP to ML deal and offer the rest Minors with invite. Sign 1 LHB to ML deal and few other bats to Minors with invite.

This year means NOTHING they just want vets to eat innings/Ab's and hopefully trade them at deadline

They are still trying to get a Houston deal which means Tucker would get the LHB job anyways

                      • Craig Mish: Sources indicate Braves and Marlins have talked again about Realmuto. Braves appear to be waiting Marlins out. Rays remain a possibility.

If it's Atlanta, no Austin Riley please. Anderson, Bryse Wilson, Contreras and Waters

                          Too much value Lee.

Change Waters to Allard/Wentz/Muller and that works. Maybe chuck in Conley and take back a FV40 too.

Of course youd prefer some other 26 year old non prospect like JD davis but say no to austin riley. the guy is one of the best 3b prospects in baseball and is MLB ready.

Mish said last week that we were asking for Riley, Anderson, and then a 3rd prospect.

                              • We already have Austin Dean (both Austins had similar ab in same league last year) and don't need a 3B. It's where Anderson needs to be.
