Boston is going to get smoked in that division if they don’t at least add a Pablo type arm.

Maybe they should swap LeBlanc for Thompson who was just DFA'd. He has options so if they can work their magic again, that helps with the bridge to Eury backup starter position, etc.
And add Reynolds and Bednar to the deal for lots and lots of other stuff of course.

Lee - fangraphs also now projects Busch to a DH, Pages to RF, Vargas to LF, and Outman to RF - https://blogs.fangraphs.com/los-ange...rospects-2023/
So those trades expecting to get back a 2B/1B, 3B, CF, and CF would have likely been a disaster even if those guys hit. Dodgers don't match up well even if their system is solid.

I'd like to see Ian Lewis, Cappe, Salas, and Watson start getting some reps in CF.

At this point, i think this would be my ideal scenario before opening day. Pablo and Rojas for Verdugo and Rafaela. Rogers, Eder/Meyer, Watson/Salas, lower level guys for reynolds. Sign Cueto. Take a flier on Reyes and Chapman for cheap 1 year deals to give the bullpen some high upside guys. Sign BA back for a couple million.
C- Fortes
1b- Cooper
2b- Jazz
SS- Wendle
3b- Segura
LF- Reynolds
CF- Verdugo
RF- Garcia
DH- Soler
Bench- BA, Stallings, Berti, DLC, if we carry a 5th bench guy Sanchez/Bleday with the other getting every day playing time in AAA
Lineup could be- Segura, Jazz, Reynolds, Verdugo, Garcia, Soler, Cooper, Wendle, Fortes
Sp- Sandy, Luzardo, Cabrera, Cueto, Garrett, with Eury, Eder/Meyer, and Fulton as depth and future guys
RP- Chapman, Reyes, Floro, Chargois, Enright, Scott, Bleier, Okert
That's a really good team IMO. Obviously they would need to stay healthy because they dont have the money to be able to have quality depth like some of these other teams do, but that's a contender i would think with some health and better bullpen late in games. You flip the balance of the roster without decimating a super talented and super cheap rotation, and you get more velocity and upside out of the bullpen and hope Chapman bounces back and reyes stays healthy.

Cappe seems destined for 3B and Lewis 2B from what I've read. Frankly, they are all at best summer 2025 guys, more than likely later, so no one is helping soon so plenty of time to figure this out.

I think you'd be playing Reynolds/DLC in CF also versus Verdugo, who would be LF only for RHP pretty much. But that's fine.
Otherwise I can get behind all of this as I do think BA would be an interesting 1B/3B/OF kind of platoon player. Even better if they would say, add Michael Taylor to this for CF (all lefties, some righties) and send DLC to AAA. Shitty situation for DLC as he might be improving with the swing tweak, but thems the ropes. Someone will get hurt so he'll still get his and just have to wait.

it's kind of funny that at this point, with all of our inactivity, the marlins now control the offseason until opening day. all the free agents are gone, and it feels like the entire league is waiting on the marlins to make their trade, or until the pirates trade reynolds, which are probably connected.
