So apparently the Marlins won’t add Conine to the 40 man before the deadline because they’d rather risk losing him than dumping the dead weight at the bottom of the roster. This may not bite them in the ass, but it’s a really dumb risk to take.

I think they are setting up the team for sale...no commitments, possibly the lowest payroll in MLB....it is after all Jeter's final year of his contract, and nothing has been said that I have heard that he will get an extension for 2023 & beyond. I could see them putting the team up for sale for $1.6 billion. $400 million profit over 5 years of ownership is a decent return.

5/$55 is not a discount and is EXTREMELY friendly to Sandy if it's only 5 years.

Would love to see deal terms. 5/$55 guaranteed makes sense if it's something like 5/$50, option $15-20m/$5 buyout.

That's an A+ offseason, probably $80-85m team once you shed Bass, Cooper/Aguilar, in salary dumps.

Mish is currently reporting "5 year, 'over' 55M", so it's around 11M per year average.....I'd imagine it's probably stair stepped (though with so little payroll now, it'd make sense to at the very least have it even or front load it some.
