Kahlil Watson is not injured but not playing this past week either. I'd think there would be some press analysis surrounding a top draft pick's absence, particularly if it is a disciplinary thing.

but from an organizational standpoint, we’re about as bad at finding young hitters as we are good at finding young pitchers

Jazz voted all star starting 2b. Well deserved. Not sure how it would have worked but given Albies is out for a while, would he have become the winner even if albies got more votes or does it become the managers choice then?
you rarely see a trade like jazz for Gallen be so beneficial to both teams.

Also, lets just sign Brandon Nimmo in the offseason.
The worst part is that there are so many avenues to contention this offseason (should have been this year) in free agency. If we had an owner who, like the twins owner, bought for correa and spent some money (middle of the pack payroll and not even top 10) we would be an easy pick for a playoff spot next year without even making a trade because of the possibility of being able to spend in free agency. But this franchise can never be counted on to do that because they just cannot get past the ownership problem that hasn't changed even with new ownership. This team needs a deep-pocketed owner with a vision that is willing to spend some money up-front and isn't counting every dollar. In this market, if you produce a consistent winner, the fans will come out for you. IF you have an owner willing to spend money, that can happen over a few years with the investment in the team. But it wont happen without the investment in the team up front. This fanbase time and time again has shown that they wont come up without a consistently good product.
Conforto, though off an injury, at 30, could be a smart value buy low play for 2 years.Last edited by fish16; 07-08-2022, 09:24 PM.

And what are the chances, even if the mets let him go, that we don't get outbid by some other big market team? those type of guys don't seem to hit the market before being re-signed. If they do, how many teams are in on him? A few injuries, but he will be just 30 next opening day. Barring a bad injury, he's getting 5 years, too many million. It shouldn't be too many million if we had a capable owner, but realistically, it is.

just a brutal way to lose yesterday. every game without sandy or pablo pitching that we can win is huge. Braxton garrett has given the team everything you could possibly hope for as a spot starter, you get 3.1 scoreless from the bullpen, and then you blow it in the 10th.
Bass sucked to start last year, but he needs to be the closer at this point. he's been tremendous and tanner scott cant be counted on to throw a strike.

Stallings at the plate makes Jeff Mathis look like babe Ruth. It’s mid July and he’s got a .492 ops. His wrc as of the other day was 47, meaning he has been less than half as good as a major league average player. At what point does this guy just go away or at the very least lose his starting spot. It’s impossible to justify him as anything other than a guy to give fortes a rest when he needs it at this point

new baseball america mid season top 100 out- Eury is 9, Max Meyer is 25, Cabrera is 56. Those are the only guys on the list. Not sure if there's been any change on the top 10 they have- but they have Eury, Meyer, Watson, Cabrera, Sixto, Eder, Burdick, Salas, Bleday, and Ian lewis.Last edited by fish16; 07-11-2022, 12:40 PM.
