Stallings at the plate makes Jeff Mathis look like babe Ruth. It’s mid July and he’s got a .492 ops. His wrc as of the other day was 47, meaning he has been less than half as good as a major league average player. At what point does this guy just go away or at the very least lose his starting spot. It’s impossible to justify him as anything other than a guy to give fortes a rest when he needs it at this point

Yup. And it was reported last night that watson has been told to stay away from his minor league team indefinitely and that the marlins will try to trade him at the deadline. Just a guy with a lot of talent who it seems never learned to handle struggling because he's always been the most talented guy on every team he's likely ever played for.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a GM show such little effort/urgency.

4 games back of a playoff spot, yet you’re trotting out Dan Castano and Elieser Hernandez…after trotting our Trevor Rogers who hasn’t gone 6 innings since the last time Sandy went less than 7 innings.

I hope they take it easy on Sandy the rest of the year instead of having him throw a bunch of meaningless innings.

2. Send Castano and Rogers down, bring up Max Mayer and Eury to start
3. DFA Aguilar and bring Lewin up.
4. Play Fortes everyday with Stallings back up.

Also, not really fair to Kim Ng when every single move before February was done by Gary Dembo/Derek Jeter. She didn't make the trades or drafted the players.

The bizarre weeks-long short benches and lack of willingness to call up players moves/non moves have been going on only since she got here, and have continued after those other people left. I understand early on there’s be a learning curve - I’m experiencing it at my own new job, but she’s well into year 2 and still doing the same things, which didn’t happen when Hill was here.

I don't know if the lack of willingness to call up prospects is something that was new with Ng. I seem to recall Isan Diaz tearing up AAA for months before getting a call up and that was pre-Ng.

1. Just a reminder: Sanchez was a vastly better hitter at the AAA level than Bleday, Burdick and Encarnacion. I share in the disappointment that Sanchez has been ... reminds me a lot of Nick Williams now (Williams was with Philly).
2. Absolutely no reason to rush Meyer (unless it's to close games), Perez is still building himself up and working on his pitches.
3. Aguilar is one of the top hitters in the Marlins lineup. Diaz hasn't improved as a hitter this year in AAA. We;re looking at sub .200 in the majors.
4) Fortes should indeed be playing more often AND he should be hitting higher in the order .... certainly above Garcia.

That’s fair, and in general I’d agree. But that was also earlier on in the rebuilding process, so I could at least somewhat buy the control/service time argument then.

Fast forward to now and we’re supposedly trying to compete? Yet our GM will leave an unusable/injured guy on the active roster for weeks on end without putting him on the IL, leaving the team short a man for weeks? We’ll also leave guys that are clearly ready/deserving of a look, so we can play together Erik Gonzalez’s Billy Hamiltons and Castanos of the world? But they continue to peddle we’re trying to compete? Please…

im a loyal person/fan, so I can’t just switch teams and root for another team. The Marlins are my team, but I’m at a point where why should I bother caring? Ownership and the FO clearly don’t.

.830 OPS in AAA isn't something to write home about for a 1st Baseman IMO. Now do I think they should've dumped Aguilar in the offseason and given Diaz a true shot to lockdown the every day 1st base job this season? I do. But with the way his season has gone in AAA it makes me think we'd be looking for a 1st baseman right about now in that scenario too.

But with the way his season has gone in AAA it makes me think we'd be looking for a 1st baseman right about now in that scenario too.

Well if he could OPS .830 at the Majors right now I would be trilled instead of Aguilar's .700 OPS. He's a much much better defender also which Aguilar is rating negatively.
