They are in really good shape.

Knowing us we will put him on IL and keep him around for next year(even tho Chen/Jarlin/Quijada will be in the pen)

You're probably going to lose someone like Holloway (minimum) as a centerpiece too, but that's OK assuming you don't give up your third pick next year so you're still ahead.

Well Chen is, he should be DFA'd immediately. But I am fine with Garcia, Conley, and Quijada as the pen lefties to open next year. Although I REALLY hope Castro, Walker, and Romo turn into more lefties to challenge Quijada and Conley.
Conley isn't this bad. Something is wrong. He's going to make a minimum raise next year based on his stats so it's worth a gamble to see if he figures it out.
At minimum, they should "Straily" him. Give him the arbitration tender, cut him in late March if he sucks, and it was gambling with $300k to see if he figures it out over the offseason.

I'm fine with that, but they just need to secure a negotiation window (which I know is tough with Boras) to see if they'll sign a market deal ala Pollock/McCutchen comps.

Detroit will get more than that from a contender. He is an impact stretch bat. Someone like Cleveland needs him and the Marlins have to beat that offer.

Diaz and Dean at AAA 2019
In 371 PA, Diaz looks like this: .306 BA, 22 HR, 61 RBI, .980 OPS and 186 TB.
Prorate Dean's 205 PA to 371 and: .350 BA, 24 HR, 83 RBI, 1.085 OPS and 220 TB.
I'd really like to see those two plus Eddy Alvarez in the Marlin lineup the rest of the way.Last edited by Lee Stone; 07-17-2019, 10:59 AM.

Also, Starlin Castro has a 1.060 OPS in July. You have to at least give him the month and try to get something for him at the deadline, either way Diaz will be the every day 2nd Baseman on August 1st.

eddy alvarez seems like a fascinating and weird player. First, didnt know he used to be a speed skater. Second, in 2015 he had 53 SB's, but in every other minor league season he hasnt had more than 11, and he's been horribly inefficient at stealing bases in every other year. I wonder if thats related to training he was doing for speed skating in the 2014 olympics .

I liked Berti very much as a smart, hustling player. Alvarez seems similar. Alvarez, Diaz, and Dean batting 2, 3 and 4 for the Cupcakes, are getting it done. Put Berti on top of that batting order and slip Harrison into the five spot, and New Orleans could win the PCL championship.Last edited by Lee Stone; 07-17-2019, 11:41 AM.

Berti also isnt good. Not sure why he gets love. The guy had 17 games and 50 ab's at Nola and all of a sudden lee stone wants to put him at the top of the order despite the fact that he's a career. .704 career minor league OPS in 3000 ab's.
