    • is garrett cooper now firmly implanted on the team as a core piece for the next few years? He has been legitimately great when he's been healthy this year. Hitting over .300, OPS around .900, and has been hitting with power. That michael king trade for smith and cooper might end up being one of the better low key moves in franchise history when all is said and done.

.381 BABIP, once that normalizes projecting as a .265/.330/.430 hitter.

He's earned 1B for sure until someone else pushes him off of it, but a core piece? Check back in this time next year and see if his current production is real or not.

        • This is getting laughable for Conley.

he;s horrendous. they need to come up with an injury and figure out where the fuck his stuff went and let him work some stuff out in the minors for a few weeks. I wouldnt be surprised if he's hiding an injury, i forgot who said it but someone was mentioning his velocity was down by a full mph a few outings ago. No idea if that was a one time thing or thats been the case for a while now.

i think we're gonna exceed maddawgs projected win total by the end of july for the second consecutive year.

            • There's been plenty of times this year where he's been throwing 97-98 and still gotten rocked.

              • I was honestly hoping the Padres would come back and win so we could put this nonsense to a full stop once and for all.

If they lost they’d never use Conley again.

I agree that we need to see more (it's only been 200 ABs this season), but now that he's finally healthy, Cooper does look like a MLB starter. I feel like you can pencil him, Anderson, and Alfaro into the future lineup and feel pretty good about those spots for a while. Hopefully Diaz too at 2B when he finally gets called up. The rest is pretty much up in the air going forward. Depending on how he finishes the year, perhaps Harold Ramirez can join that group.

I'm really happy if he is a low end starter or good bench player. Same with Ramirez.

Alfaro, Wallach, Cooper, Diaz, Anderson, H. Ramirez, and dare I say Brinson, costs $4.5 million in 2020.

In 2021, if you add Monte, it's probably around $12.

In 2022, if you add Devers, VVM, and Bleday, it's probably around $20 million, and Anderson and Alfaro are over half of that.

Let's get these guys some help.

U can put in PEN for 2020

                      Alfaro-C
                      Wallach-C(unless concussion stays bad)
                      Diaz-2B
                      Cooper-1B/RF
                      BA-3B/RF/1B
                      Ramirez-LF

Cooper and Ramirez at worst are backups on a good team.

Wish Castellanos would fire Boras because he wouldn't look bad in RF

They are trying to show off Conley which is why they keep throwing him out there. He looks terrible!!

He can't be sent down so handcuffed what they can do with him-if DFA someone will claim him

                      - - - - - - - - - -

Riddle/Ramirez/Sierra/Jarlin are out of options after this year so they all have to stick in 2020

Yeah, looking at the FA list for the offseason, if you add, say Didi Gregorious an one of Abreu, Puig, Castellanos, or Ozuna to what is currently here, you aren't very far off from being a contending team and having a deep farm system to back it up. it also would not break the bank given how cheap everything else on this roster is.

Imagine the good will that Jeter and Sherman could buy by going out and spending some smart money in free agency. I think it's a worthwhile investment to prove they are serious about winning.

                        • Before anyone says they wont get anything for Conley-VERY TRUE but a AA LHR OR DSL player and IFA $ is all Miami really wants for him at this point. Actually surprised that LAD or Milwaukee hasn't tried to buy low on him yet

I'd personally throw out Abreu completely and probably Puig unless you can project him to be a good citizen, but Didi and Ozuna/Castellanos (and resigning a Neil Walker type) would be an awesome offseason. That is of course, if the contracts are reasonable over 3-4 years. Maybe 5 for Ozuna.

2nd. I would talk to Ozuna and Castellanos see what they want-Castellanos might cost more but likely wouldnt come with draft pick comp. Said before but I would look at what Detroit would want for him at the deadline-Cody Poteet and Raul Campos(I would offer and see if they would take it)

I don't think any of that is an issue. The crunch is in 2021. And that's only if mostly everyone develops and they don't make some trades next deadline to consolidate talent.

They are in really good shape.
