Urena's surface numbers like ERA seem like he's regressed this year but he has actually been much better this year than he was last year. Dropped his BB/9 by 1 and increased his K/9 by 1 too plus a slightly increased ground ball rate.
He'll never be a top of the rotation guy but i hope they keep him next year considering we have 3 years of team control left and he is fairly consistent and someone who belongs in the middle of an MLB rotation. If Chen has to stay and we are deciding on keeping Straily or Urena for next year, you deal straily every time and just try to deal him for an MLB bat that we can plug into the lineup next year at 1b or a corner outfield spot.
Or keep straily and move Chen to the bullpen and go with Urena, Alcantara, Lopez, Smith, and Straily and Richards I think if he becomes the #6 guy would be a very quality reliever because of that ridiculous changeup. Either way we have a pretty deep cost controlled rotation.
