One thing im thinking in regards to Van Slyke is that Schuck might have to be sent down soon for one of the guys coming back and that would mean he would need to be DFA'd after a short stint so they didnt want to risk Van Slyke being claimed after just a few days up here. thats the only thing i can think of.

When I say depth I mean Garcia or Antuna included. Both are what Gimenez was LY. Will Washington include either one in a deal? If not I see how bad the Mets want JT and squeeze them. They have stuff we would like just not high end
If mid June comes and the Mets are fighting for 1st but need a C I would call and offer JT/Taz with some cash for
SS Andres Gimenez
SP David Peterson
SP Chris Flexen OR Robert Gsellman
C Tomas Nido
1B Peter Alonso
Mid Level Prospect
ALL Ready by 2020
Tell them take it OR leave it and if the leave it we are going to do a deal with Washington
Peterson and Gimenez would probably be legit starters for the Marlins, and the rest good depth pieces.
I don't care at all about Alonso. I only want up the middle positions and pitching in every trade.

Mets dont do it for me. We dont need more depth (i mean, yes we do, but specifically in a deal for JT), we need some more high end guys, even if its less players in a deal. We can get more mid tier prospects for some of the other guys on the team, I dont see us needing to do that for JT. Just keep shopping him around and say the best prospect to be included will get him, whether its Tucker, Soto, Rosario from the Mets, maybe the braves get involved, red sox, etc. Need a top end guy. We can keep building more depth through the draft and trades of guys like Bour, Castro, Barraclough, maybe Ziegler, etc.

not even a joke, but Chen also reportedly threw in an extended spring game so his yearly month this year until he goes down is probably gonna be may.

Peterson is a guy they were interested in LY and is the Marlins type of arm BIG LHP

Im assuming playing and getting 4 AB's after injuring the wrist initially probably didnt help this. but that also might be cooper finally getting an MLB shot and hiding how bad the injury was.

So Cooper will be back to play 1B by the time we trade Bour

JT is a premium catcher at a premium position under team control for 3 more years, he needs to get a high end prospect who is already considered high end, not one who people think could become one.

So your strategy is say
Washington-Juan Soto and Severino
NYM-Amed Rosario and Nido
or no deal?

I dont hate Gimenez, but he shouldnt be the best thing we get back for JT unless the deal is like 5 guys deep.

Doesnt have to be those 2 teams, not sure why youre limiting it to them when we have 3.5 months till the deadline. Lots of contenders have potential catcher needs at the deadline- Mets, Nats, Astros, Red Sox definitely might be interested and they have Groome, etc. Id need Soto or Kieboom + though if i deal with the nats and id need a legit big time prospect from the mets and they just dont have that, so id need Amed Rosario (though they likely wouldnt do that, but still, you dont need to deal JT and you can still give him a long term deal).

Gimenez is Mets #1 prospect and I agree if he is centerpiece it better be 4/5 guys. Also Gimenez can stick at SS which bumps value up. I dont like the Mets system but its not a bad system and they have pieces we would like
