  • And that’s still a ridiculous exaggeration for how bad this team is but it’s what we’ve come to expect with your unrelenting cynicism

Also for us to be closer to 35 than 60 we would have to go at best 11-60. Hence why that is also still a ridiculous statement to make

In the same series vs the Nationals, the Marlins blew a 9 run lead and gave up 35 runs in 3 games. Where do Marlins fans get these ridiculous ideas?

So 3 games vs a team that has our number are worth more than the 70 or so we’ve had since realmuto came back?

Nobody. tjfla did this last year with AJ Ellis too. These guys have no trade value.

The Orioles and Royals might struggle to win 35.

          • Both those teams already have 24/25 just over halfway thru the year. You guys really don’t get just how hard it is to be that bad

I was joking. Even though those two teams are actually way worse than the Marlins. They actually look like AAA teams and they’re definitely going to sell the few good players they have.

Ya those teams are significantly worse than the marlins and yet are still better than that tigers team that was the worst of all time.

                • Ziegler has to get moved at this point, right? He's actually been very good since moving out of the closers role. I don't expect much for him, but I would imagine teams would have to see him as a good bullpen rental for the playoffs.

Ya I did this with AJ Ellis LY. U heard the story that Miami traded Ellis to Colorado before Samson vetoed the trade because they wanted us to pay half right??

Ziegler will likely bring 1 or 2 low level prospects especially if we pay the salary

Machado market is blocking the Marlins right now. Once Baltimore trades him and a RP the market for Bearclaw/Steck/Conley will get clearer.

                    • Riddle is up to .288/.321/.500 (.821) vs RHP. .319 overall BABIP so nothing really lucky.

His career RHP slash is starting to get statistically significant - 288 PA; .262/.299/.421 (.720), 16/60 BB/K, 7 HR (25 XBH). Pretty OK.

Split the difference with career and 2018 slash, and above average defense, and this is turning into a sneaky really good player. He's pacing 3+ WAR over 155 games this season. This would be a serious welcome surprise if he's turning into a solid starting player or super bench guy.

Just saying. We're a long ways from thinking he's going to be around for years, but maybe he is a late blooming 26 year old.

I'm not completely bought in yet on him being a future starter, but he's at least earned the opportunity to play every day for the rest of this season to see if he can be a starting SS.

Is Jed Lowrie a good comp for him? I feel like they are similar offensively. Lowrie was a platoon player in his mid 20's and didn't become a starter full time until his late 20's.

I agree. We're at least 500 PA away, at minimum, at knowing that. But I'm getting a little optimistic he is a strong side of a platoon guy with the RHP split and defense. They can probably find a "Rojas" type that can hit lefties a little and play SS/2B/3B and that's a fun combo. That's a nice depth chart if there is a bashing Diaz, and all around Anderson at the other infield slots.

I'm not saying they should do this, probably should let Riddle have the chance to play against lefties even, but if they called up Erik Campbell from AAA and played him at 2B against lefties and Riddle at SS/2B every day against righties, it'd probably be a damn good platoon.

I definitely think he should play against lefties and see what happens, why not. But yea end of the day if all he is, is a strong side RHP platoon that's great. I think the 2nd half lineup is really easy (assuming they don't move Realmuto because a "Robles" isn't offered and no one wants Bour and Prado):

                                Realmuto, Telis/Wallach
                                Bour
                                Rojas
                                Riddle
                                Anderson, Prado
                                Dean
                                Brinson, Ortega/Lee/Sierra
                                Cooper

They have room for 1 more infield bat. If it's Campbell? Sure. It really doesn't matter as we're at the fringe MLB level player phase of the roster at this point, but I think they should probably give those PA to Adames/Nola/the other of Telis/Wallach/I fucking guess Rivera/etc., just to see if they flash enough to be carried on the 40 man into next year.
