Because they saw him as a RP and rest of teams saw him as a SP. Jeff idea was trade a "Minor League RP" for a ML SP

Perhaps Jeff should have looked in the mirror with 15 years of failure after failure and stop butting in like a moron and let his baseball guys make the call in stuff like that. Just a thought

To be fair Castillo did look like a relief pitcher for some time in the system. He just rose really fast and the team thought they'd trade him at his minor league height rather than let things play out and see if he could produce at a major league level.

I don't know, Dean hasn't been much of a prospect so he's not the kind of guy who you maneuver service time with. But, if we're thinking along those lines, he can come up in 1-2 weeks and get past that deadline.

Brad Miller was DFA'd, they should pick him up. He's a good buy low rehab project and controlled next year.

He also has a .782 OPS vs RHP this year. That's gotta play somewhere on this team.

I know Dean isn't an elite prospect, but if you think he can be a starter for a few years, I could see trying to avoid Super 2 status if you can.

            • Ohtani has Chen Injury. UCL Sprain and prolly needs TJ but is getting shots instead

Would love to trade Urena OR Straily and Ziegler to LA right away!!

Heard Dean will probably be up sooner rather than later. They are keeping him in AAA to give him regular AB's instead of sitting on bench. Looking to deal DD and then put him in LF

Yes we have been talking to LAA about a few guys.

Heyman had an article about Wash and JT again however Miami is not really interested in them UNLESS Soto OR Robles is in the deal. Miami likes the Washington "offer"(Kieboom plus more) but thinks they can get the same offer and keep JT out of the NL East OR get even a better offer. Dark Horse Team is Colorado but Wash/NYM/Houston/Toronto/Minn/Milwaukee/Arizona/Oak/Colorado/Cleveland have all called on him

              • I don't see why they would trade Urena. His trade value probably isn't very high. Salary wise he is cheap and will be for a while yet.

If they overpay out of desperation you do.

                    • I love all the details. The old look scoreboard. The teal clock/scoreboard on the left small video board. They even put lines on the advertisements to mimick the “flip” ad boards that would rotate between advertisements.

Have they done anything different with the sound system this year? It’s very echoey....I don’t remember it being that way in the past.

                      • They play that one really annoying sound effect all the time and I still haven't figured out what it is. Kinda like a Hans Zimmer Inception noise or something.

                        • I think Jeter thinks that just because Washington Ave is relatively close that he needed to turn Marlins Park into a nightclub.

The DJ guy yelling behind a turntable several times during the game is kind of annoying. I’m sure there are fans who find it very annoying.

                          • When I got to my seats last night, there was an envelope on it inviting me up to a suite. It was obviously to get people to sign up for ticket packages, but it was neat to go up into a suite. Interestingly, nobody approached me (and my brother/family friend) while I was up there. I did see the new VP of tickets/sales, Travis Apple, there when we left the suite, but didn't talk to him or hear the expected speech I figured he'd give, though he may have done it after I left.

I also saw team employees timing concession lines, which indicates they've identified that as an issue.

It's good to see that they're paying attention to details like that.

Beyond that - I too am hesitant about catering too much to latin/miami vibe. Not saying they shouldn't, but not every fan there is latin. I also would like to see them work on a better way to get people to the park. I think they lost a lot of broward fans with the move......there's nothing they can do about the location, but it's just inconvenient to drive down, and terrible to get back with only the single northbound lane on 395.

It's kinda sad their doing a pretty cool 25th anniversary celebration with all these old Marlins and there's no one there.

                              • For those of you whose nostalgia is really kicking in this weekend, the Marlins' first-ever game is up in its entirety on YouTube.
