          • Only the Braves would have 3 infield singles in a row.

              • We’re not going to finish above the braves. I’m all for creating as much distance between us and the Mets as possible while we can

I agree. Just having fun with the idea that we’d be 2 games out if first if they lost tonight. It’s kind of wild if you think about how good the Braves are and being that close in June

                  • If you could somehow find a way to add Perez and Greinke from KC and Westburg from BAL, to me, with where we are right now and our pitching. That's a team primed to make a playoff run.

There is no way to do that without severely depleting the pitching. Westburg is a top 50 or so prospect, he would cost a lot. As would perez and greinke. They are the faces of that franchise for the last 15 years. It would be much more minor additions I would think

I disagree. The Rogers-Floro deal I proposed is completely plausible if Rogers comes back and looks good in his first couple of starts/appearances. If a trade was made right at the halfway point Salvador Perez would have $54 million left on his contract for 2 1/2 years. That's a lot of dough. Too much dough honestly, but luckily our team is incredibly cheap, and our payroll is ridiculously low, add Perez to it, and our payroll is still very low. Moral of the story, Bruce needs to sack up and lay down the cash. Greinke can't possibly cost much. You can't tell me there's not a trade here that works. Eder-Monteverde-Burdick. I say that gets it done if we're willing to eat the $58 million price tag that comes with them, and again if Eder comes back looking strong.

i mean i guess, but trevor rogers hasnt looked good or been healthy in close to 2 years. He was awful last year, had 2 bad starts to begin this year, then 1 good start, then got injured 2 innings into his 4th start and hasnt been seen since. Even his all star year he wasnt very good after june. He didnt get through more than 5.1 innings in any start from july on. in 7 starts after the all star break, he had a decent 3.69 ERA, but a 1.42 WHIP and only managed to get through 31 innings in 7 starts. So we're talking about getting a top 50 prospect who is absolutely mashing in AAA for a guy who hasnt been good in getting close to 2 full calendar years. Not to mention the orioles have a ridiculous amount of top prospects because they can actually draft, so they can find a SP for lesser prospects.

And Floro has been good for us, so why trade an important reliever as part of a package to get a hitter who has proven nothing at the major league level yet if the goal is to win this year?

Perez makes sense, but has Sherman given any indication he would be willing to take on any more salary, let alone 50 million over the next 2.5 years?

                            • Baseball america has westburg at 46 in the rankings they updated yesterday. The orioles have guys at number 2, 16, 17, 46, 75, 80, 81, and 84. They dont need to settle for reclamation scraps for guys who havent pitched well in 2 years. Most likely, they will go out and get someone on the Luzardo level with the talent they have.

You're underselling Rogers. At his worst he's an average 5th starter, at his best he's a top of the rotation candidate. Only 25 years old. He threw 9 scoreless innings in the minors coming back 2 hits, 2 BBs 12 Ks. I think he comes back dealing, we'll see.
