It’s 11 games. They were still dumb. Sandy is fine.

It’s disconcerting when the only thing you have going for you is considered just average. I don’t understand thinking the rotation is average and also thinking we’re going to win 80 games. If the rotation is average we’re going to struggle to win 70 games.

          • Another line drive by Segura ending in an out

            • Remember the good old days when we were terrible but could at least tout run differential.

                • if i had the ability to easily change the team i root for i would have been a rays fan years ago. i dont blame anyone for not supporting this team. we will continue to toil in mediocrity until we get a legitimate owner who is willing to invest up front on the team. and ng hasnt been a great GM, but the fact that she will more likely than not take the heat for this teams performance is ridiculous. it's sherman, it has always been sherman, and it will always be sherman until he either becomes richer and starts spending money or until he sells the team. his refusal to spend money at a league average clip is why this team will always be below average, and his refusal to spend money and this team being below average is why fans will continue to refuse to come out and support this product, and their refusal to come out and support this product are why he will always refuse to spend at a league average clip. It's a circle of blame that benefits no one.

Just hope Soler, Cooper, and Floro hold up so they can trade for Groshans, Edwards, and Amaya again

none of those guys look like starting caliber players, let alone impact bats. they have no path to getting the impact bats they need without trading eury or spending big in free agency.

Agreed. The Rays are cheap but at least they have sustained success to the point where you don't necessarily care about the payroll figure. I wouldn't care as much about payroll if we were winning, and winning year over year. But to not make the necessary moves and drop a star bat on this roster is inexcusable. Not only would it push a lesser bat out of the lineup, it'd make everyone else see better pitches (the "I don't want to face that guy with runners" argument).

And add Kim's underperformance, especially in season, and it's not a good recipe.

                          • I don't know, if I were a Rays fan, I'd obviously be happier than as a Marlins fan, but I'd still probably feel like the lack of spending is the difference in them not winning a World Series yet. Can you imagine that Rays roster and add like a Brandon Nimmo, Willson Contreras, and Jacob DeGrom to it? (just some recent FA examples)

I don't disagree. But I'd rather have their success + no spending and at least have some fun/a chance every year vs. our yearly disaster + no spending and check out in late April/early May.
