Next year, we should have everyone up and ready- Sandy, Luzardo, Cabrera, Rogers, Meyer, Eder, Fulton, Eury. But why wait until then? This team has a pitching staff that can carry us this year, they just refused to make the move early.
That's the problem, though.....there's always an argument for "next year"....except "next year" is always the case year after year. As a fan, it's getting infuriating as you said.

Yea Arraez has been awesome so maybe that is a win-win, but if Anderson is going to hit again instantly, talk about a punch in the gut. I was OK with the DFA as I get it, but once he lingered and could have been had for $3m bucks they should have brought him back. His comments about them doesn't make it seem like he would have wanted to come back, but hopefully this isn't a big deal and effectively DLC/Sanchez/Yuli/AAA guys hit enough to not get killed here.
I'd have kept him and rolled the dice for a return/improvement under new voices in the dugout.

It wasn't even an experiment, he was a good prospect that people had a lot of hopes for who was with us a long time, to completely meh results.

This is true, but I am annoyed they didn't resign him once he lingered out there, they did not address a backup 1B/can play 3B or OF sort of guy (i.e. Drury) or get a big one (Reynolds), and they settled for Yuli/Iglesisas.

But it is what it is. He starts playing a good SS and I'll bang my head into a desk.

Experiment was the least important word in my post.

exactly. im not upset he's playing well, i figured that would have happened. Milwaukee has a good history with guys exactly like that. They did it with casey mcgheee (hits mcgehee) and travis shaw a few years ago. They get 1b/3b reclamation projects to succeed there all the time. He wouldnt be putting up those numbers here, so it's not worth getting worked up about. Good for him that the change of scenery worked so far. I doubt he becomes some all star anyways, he will probably put up a BA year- 15-20 hr's, 70-80 rbi's, .250-.270 BA, and a mid .700s ops. Good player, wouldnt be giving us those numbers, so why get worked up about it?

i wouldnt say they were meh results. They were the last 2 years when he was injured, but he was a really good player for a few years for us. Not spectacular, but super steady in 2018-2020. But he was terrible because of injuries the last few years so i have no problem letting him go.

Well, they did the same with Marte.

And, to be fair, they did try to get Abreu and a few others, but their offers weren't enough, and they instead went the washed up/bargain bin route.

                    • getting back to the play on the field, we need at least 2 of 3 in this series. Sandy goes tonight against a fringe major leaguer, luzardo against Nola tomorrow, and Wheeler against cabrera on wednesday. Phillies havent played well to start the year, plus obviously Hoskins and Harper are out, and wednesday is a day game so Realmuto likely only starts 2 games. Big game tonight.

Dont know if the lineups have come out yet, but with a lefty on the hill, expect Gurriel, one of cooper or Soler in a corner OF spot, and im guessing DLC in the other OF spot.

Edit- just saw the lineup. They are resting JT tonight against sandy, so he probably plays each of the next 2. The day game is at 4 PM so he could theoretically play both with no problem.

                      • jerar had a ridiculous home run robbing catch yesterday in RF. I think he ends up becoming a piece there or at 1b long term. i want to see progress with the bat this year

Hence, sign the Werth deal to show people you mean business.

And they just called up Soriano and put Chargois on the DL.
