we have very different definitions of gangster. Manipulating a guys service time to save some money several years down the line based on an arbitrary bullshit innings limit that he shows no signs of needing right now while this team is in a hotly contested playoff push? that's not gangster, thats horrendous management and bad ownership.

cueto being recalled is just such classic marlins. Just dont understand the concept of a sunk cost, or dont care. Fuck this season, we must make this 10 million pitcher that we can easily just cut bait with right now and owe the exact same amount of money work. Who gives a fuck about the fact that we are in a tight playoff chase and he hasnt had a single non terrible outing since the beginning of spring training, he must get a chance. all at the expense of the pitcher who we've set an arbitrary innings limit on despite no signs of needing it and very easily working around it right now.

also, i know he wasnt scheduled to pitch this series obviously, but what a fucking move to take the air out of the team and give them an idea that you dont give 2 shits about performance over money heading into the biggest series in like 20 years. What does that team think seeing cueto's fat ass walk into the clubhouse after having a 10.50 ERA, 1.96 WHIP, and just 10 strikeouts in 24 innings over 6 rehab starts after the 1 inning he had to start the year and then the 11 runs over 2+ spring innings. Just a complete pathetic fuck you from Bruce.

And for cueto? Just pathetic. Hmmm, the guy has been completely fucking shelled every single outing since the beginning of spring training. I wonder how this is going to go?
they need to get a big SP at the deadline. and cabrera needs to hurry the fuck up and get back. How does every single one of our pitching injuries never return when they are supposed to? Or are they just flatly lying every time a pitcher sustains an injury?
I don’t see the point of wasting his innings in the minors. Just have him pitch up here until he’s done.
Also, why not just put him in the bullpen and have him pitch 2-3 high leverage innings like once every four days?

I feel like it would be nice to have him again, especially since we need a righty reliever. He’s especially tough against right-handed hitters, which we need in the pen.

im not. First, it is completely unnecessary to send him down based on an innings limit that they themselves created that has no basis in anything and has not been a proven method of keeping guys healthy anyways in the past when he has shown 0 signs of fatigure. Secondly, it is an awful message to send to the team to have Cueto on this roster. He deserves 0 chances. He deserved to be cut and have his career be done with. He stole money from the team. It happens. but to not acknowledge reality and instead force the issue and put a guy on the roster that every single person in that organization knows has not earned it and is only up there because of his contract is absurd. It's like sending Jesus sanchez down at this point if avisail garcia comes back healthy. It sends such an awful message to the team and to the fans, hours before they play the biggest series they have played in 20 years.
Players don’t look at things like fans do.
If that were the case, we’d be playing bad because they’d be upset that “bad luck” Segura is getting all the playing time despite sucking. Instead, Segura seems like a veteran the players like.
Cueto sucks too, but I don’t think the rest of the team will be disappointed to have him back from a team morale standpoint.
We might get swept this weekend because that’s baseball, but I don’t think it’ll be because the players are upset or anything like that.
The move is disappointing as a fan though, I agree.

There’s no exact science to these shutdowns imo. Guys like Wainwright and Price started their careers late in the season out of the pen and they ended up having fine careers while providing value to their respective teams in their rookie seasons.

And the issue is twofold. If they sent him down a month because of the innings and to preserve him for the end of the season because Cabrera or rogers were ready to come back, I could stomach that a little more. But for Johnny fucking cueto? It’s a disgrace. Unless they move for a starter quickly, they are going to tank after the all star break. We’re gonna have a rotation with cueto and hoeing for a prolonged period of time? Watch how fast they collapse in the standings. If they were going to send eury down, they needed to wait until Cabrera was ready or they acquired a legitimate starting pitcher immediately. I guess they have time before that spot comes up the week following the all star break, but if they don’t get that guy immediately, this team is going to crumble with those two in the rotation

We need last years sandy for the rest of the year. He's had more than enough time to figure it out. I give him a break for his last start because he looked ok before the braves broke through, but we need him to start carrying this rotation again. This bullpen is taxed today from the last few games. We need 7 strong tonight. The phillies teed off on him last time and harper wasnt even back at that point, so this is a huge test for him. He has to figure it out at some point right? Or will this just be one of those years where he has a mid 4 ERA and a 3 something XFIP the whole year?

hopefully it's a late arriving crowd. if not, super disappointing. Looks like 15k at the very most. On a bright side, i havent seen josh johnson since he was traded to toronto. that dude was so fucking good. so underrated. Still remember him outdueling santana (after the twins definitely had the grand plan for him) numerous times those late 2000 early 2010 years. threw absolute gas.
