Remember Josias Manzanillo? The guy who would constantly bang on his cup, and then when he would get a 3rd out he would sprint off the mound into the dugout at about 100 mph. Apparently the cup thing was because he once took a Manny Ramirez line drive in the nards.

I remember post-2003 World Series us forum-rats used to obsess about Josh Willingham and his minor league numbers. He ended up having a pretty good career, .823 career OPS, but it was also an incredibly short career, only 9 years total. I can't help but wonder how much money the Marlins FO cost that guy keeping him in the minors for so long and foolishly trying to make him a catcher. I think he's a much more remembered player in the overall MLB-scheme of things if the Marlins FO had handled him competently.

Super Dark Horse for the top 100 in 2021: Victor Mesa Jr. - Very curious to see if they would dare start him at Clinton this year. Will be 18 for the entirety of the 2020 season.
Mesa Jr's issue is the Clinton team. They have NO spots open in OF for the first few months and then the draft
LF-Davis Bradshaw/Albert Guaimaro
CF-JD Orr/Milton Smith
RF-Lorenzo Hampton/Troy Johnston
Maybe Dalvy(2B?CF?),Tevin Mitchell(UT)
Yes Mesa Jr is probably better than most of them but they wanna see if any of them can stick before they release them or make them backup. More than likely they just keep him in Batavia all year
We have big OF crunch actually
Clinton
LF-Bradshaw/Guaimaro/Mitchell
CF-Orr/Smith/Dalvy
RF-Hampton/Johnston
Jupiter
LF-Connor Scott
CF-Misner/Thomas Jones
RF-Burdick/Pompey
Gonna be interesting to see what Denbo does with minors actually. Lots of "older" types(Bats and Arms) who could be moved up to the right level and be tested which would open up spots for the younger guys in Clinton

Also to note, Scott (and Devers) weren't eligible for this list as they were on it last year. Scott may be in the same category.
If I had to guess, the Marlins 2021 top 100 prospects are (I'm expecting graduations for Sixto, Cabrera, Monte, Lewin, Neidert, and Guzman):
Bleday
Jazz
2020 # 3 pick (Hancock/Gonzalez/Tork)
Sanchez (I don't think he graduates and they take it slow with him)
Garrett
I think Scott, Misner, and Rogers may be the only guys able to break through. Maybe they get lucky with a IFA or their second pick in the draft. I'd be floored if Burdick or Jerar shoot up that much.
Ya raw power isn't something I get behind either. See Sean Reynolds but IF u show power in Jupiter people do take notice. If Burdick hits 15 HR in Jupiter he would shoot up every board. Only RP who should make Top 200 list are projected CL in Majors

I think Sanchez is going to come up post super-2 2021, and they are going to roll with Dickerson-Monte-Anderson (Villar 3B) for this year once Monte is up, with Ramirez/Brinson getting some real playing time to see if they are anything. Maybe this is May 2021 if he's really good and screw the super 2 status.
All the reports say Sanchez is really raw and needs some time. I'm expecting them to work on his swing. He's really young and has 2 option years. They can wait on him this year.
I could see Cabrera up but looks like the pecking order is Duggar,Neidert before June then after its gonna depend on innings and need. Could be Sixto,Cabrera,Guzman up at anytime. Just remember they already have 8 SP(Caleb,Sandy,Pablo,Urena,Yamamoto,Elieser,Duggar ,Neidert) so they arent gonna force the young guys upLast edited by tjfla; 02-14-2020, 06:59 AM.

None of those guys you listed at Clinton are legit prospects. (I'm curious to see how J.D. Orr does, though) If they think VM Jr. can handle the jump he should be there. We'll see.

Even though he didn't really earn the promotion, I could see Pompey getting the call to AA, maybe play 1st base, to make sure he gets every day ABs.

Where do you folks stand on the Astros cheating situation? With regard to the 2017 pennant, I'd say delete it from the record book. With regard to the near $440,000 Astro player bonuses, I'd say forfeit those too. Take back the rings and sell them on EBay. MLB can give all the money to a worthy charity ... like minor league baseball.

The biggest joke was they took NO cash away from IFA Cash which means they pretty much can just sign a 1st Rd pick(which they did already) they signed Pedro Leon(Cuba for 4 million)
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...ban-pedro-leon
Then in 2021 they can just do the same thing

Bradshaw/Johnston-Hit tool
Hampton-Power tool
Orr/Smith-Hit/Speed
Actually 1B is full in the system
AAA-Lewin
AA-Alonso
Hi A-Edwards/Hollins/Ready
Lo A-Infante/Reynolds
They need OF/1B/DH in Jax so someone who is older could could get moved up-Pompey/Misner or even Johnston/OrrLast edited by tjfla; 02-15-2020, 06:52 AM.

As for Ready he probably gets the Starting 3B job in Jupiter. If he shows power and the hit tool there he is a prospect

Jordan McPherson
@J_McPherson1126
#Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Jonathan Villar will start camp working in center field. He'll still get infield reps, but team hopes CF works out. They have backup plans if it doesn't.
