  • The whole evaluators being down on sixto thing makes no sense to me. Romo signing and trade continues to look like a phenomenal move that I wish we did more of

Wander Franco deserves it but still crazy to see them giving him 80 FV

    • I believe only Tampa has more guys in FG's top 120, somebody could correct me if I'm wrong.

18 in High A FSL will do that for u. Thats why we always say if u can hit there u get a bump and if u can't pitch there u get downgraded

They have been like that on Sixto forever(Injury and size) while others love him. They like Monte and Lewin while others have cooled on them

        • Who has cooled on Lewin? The guy was literally a nothing prospect at this time last year, and now he's in a Top 120 list, I would say the opposite is happening.

Maybe he was just referring to monte which you would expect because he was injured most of the year. Lewin reminds me of Yordan Alvarez a little

            • I completely agree on Monte, I'm stunned Jesus Sanchez and Monte's ratings are so close.

Jesus is a guy I think will shoot you those lists by the end of the year. He doesn’t walk a ton but he has a pure hitting talent that is unmatched in the system.

Small sample size, but he had 15 BBs in 128 ABs at AAA last year. If he keeps that kind of BB rate up it could be a game changer for him.

                  • Let’s hope. In other news prado has finally retired despite having invites to spring from a few teams

The thing with Sanchez is, he doesn't need to hit much *if* the defense is "best in the minors" as the one publication said.

A good comparable is Max Kepler (2018 version). He hit .224/.319/.408 (.727 OPS), barely above average base running, totally awesome in the field (he split time 2/3 RF, 1/3 CF). He had a 2.7 WAR. The CF defense time and fantastic BB rate (11.6%) helped him a lot to get to that level, but you get the idea.

Another good comparable is actually Brian Anderson. Yes, the 3B time is helping him (he is so awesome at 3B!), but he's been worth a little less defensively than Kepler, is a neutral base runner, but over the last two years, has hit better than Kepler's 2018 with an eyeball round ball of .270/.350/.425. He's turned in back to back 3.4 and 3.1 WR seasons over 600 PA. That is great.

If Sanchez is as advertised defensively and gets over a .700 OPS, he could be an unspectacular 2 WAR player quickly (we of course, say the same thing about Brinson, Sierra, and Monte). That's really good over club controlled years. The defense will have to be as advertised though.

If he has a RHP split that has him getting into the high 700s OPS versus right handers, he starts getting into the upper 2s, and if he can actually hit he's going to be Anderson or better very quickly.

I like the organization's strategy with him for relievers. He has an acceptable risk of a floor with theoretically the defense and random bombs, and high ceiling if it comes together.

He should be a few ticks above Monte. He's never whiffed like Monte and has done it at younger ages.

                      - - - - - - - - - -

If Jazz, Bleday, and Anderson are above average starters
Diaz, Monte, Sanchez, Lewin, and Alfaro average starters

There is a good trade brewing where they'd trade one of the later 5, sign an upgrade in free agency, and get some more pitching combining a good younger player with prospects.

                      We can hope and dream.

                      • Is Sanchez defense supposed to be that good? I honestly hadn’t looked into his defense all the much? Is he that elite defensively? If so he could be a legit star moving forward

The 10 day stretch or the .790 OPS in 306 plate attempts?

the 10 day stretch. He had a .304 AVG with 1.241 OPS in May, of which contributed to 12 hr's and 22 RBI's. In april in mostly pinch hitting appearances he hit .196 with an inflated OPS due to a single 2 hr game of .813. In june he hit .140 with a .592 OPS, july was a .150 AVG with a .606 OPS, august was .063 AG and .473 OPS, september was no hits in 15 ab's. after the all star break he went 4/56

If you take out a 2 hr, 6 rbi game and a 3 hr, 6 rbi game in may, he had a .670 OPS, a number still greatly inflated by a fluke may and a truly ridiculous 25 HBP's

                                - - - - - - - - - -

from may 29th through the end of the year he hit .128, .530 OPS, 133 ab's, 46 k's playing in the best hitters park in baseball
