I just came to say this. They look completely lost.

    • In person, Cabrera looks a ton like and Carries himself a lot like sandy. Lost a little steam in the 6th, but he looked fantastic today. He, sandy, luzardo, and Cabrera all had tremendous springs. Rotation will be dominant if we stay healthy

      • He gave up a blooper to arenado there, but puk is clearly our best reliever. Probably won’t close because he can be used more effectively as a hybrid guy. But he clearly is our best guy out there

        • They won’t do it until it’s too late, but they are gonna need another late inning bullpen arm. They’d be dumb not to get it before the year starts

          • Barnes looked bad.

Looked bad enough that the Red Sox are paying him about $7 million NOT to pitch for them this year.

              • Barnes clearly had no feel for his control today. Only gave up a single hit. He’s been decent for the spring.

                • Gurriel makes the roster, iglesias does not but stays in the organization.

                  • Ng says Eder is in a walking boot due to a foot injury. Told you. Not sure if he aggrevated the one I said he had last year or if this is a new injury

Above Average, with upside to move up or down - CF
                      Average - C, 3B, DH
Below Average, with real upside hope - LF
                      Below Average - 1B, SS
Borderline Disaster, but some hope to just be below average - RF

Very good second base was with Jazz playing it. His speed, defense and power made him far better than Arraez.
3B, C and DH are far below average, borderline shitty.
LF far below average to shitty
RF far below average to shitty
CF with Jazz will be adequate to better than average. (Boy does he whiff a lot. Best I can say is that most of his swings and misses come on balls in the strike zone.)
                        SP solid with upside
                        BP average to below average

"Spring training games/performance don't matter." That's what teams that have had an awful spring say. The outlook is beyond bleak, such as 52-110.

Only way to have really addressed the lineup would have been to deal Alcantara. SP, with Pablo, would have still been solid with upside.

TLDR - Marlins are very average with major whiff upside. Sixto and gang could help later

I think you should look at some of those positional depth charts around the league.

For instance, this is who is lower than Segura at 3B and a few higher. These are all starters or strong side platoon:

                              H. Dozier
                              N. Maton
                              S. Steer (he has some upside)
                              Moustakas
                              J. Peterson
                              Wisdom
Bohm (he has major offensive upside and no defensive ability)
                              Candelario
                              Longoria/Rojas
                              Jung (he has major upside)
                              D. Villar
                              E. Suarez
                              Escobar/Baty (Baty has major upside)
                              L. Urias/B. Anderson
Moncada (maybe he has upside left?)
                              Donaldson

                              And in front on him

                              K. Hayes (major upside but he's all defense)
                              J. Miranda
                              Muncy
                              G. Henderson
                              Paredas
                              Rendon

I think its hard to take anyone in the top group above Segura for 2023 only (of course Jung, Bohm, and Baty are better longterm). And then I'm not sure Segura shouldn't be ahead of a few more guys as Hayes, Miranda, Paredas, and injured-Rendon aren't sure things. I would take Muncy and Gunnar over him as I believe in them.

"Far below average" isn't understanding the 3B landscape in baseball at all. Segura is very much, an average floor here of this total mess of players.
