      • calling segura a well below average 3b is just ridiculous. He isnt superb, but he is one of the most flat out competent players in the league. He's not going to put up a .900 OPS, but he is going to be peak martin prado levels of competent. He will hit for average, get on base a decent amount, not going to strike out a lot, will add a little speed, will give you 15 hr's and 30 2b's. He is flat out competent. It's not sexy, but he will be a very nice piece for us this year if he stays healthy. He is a consistently competent player.

Also ridiculous is thinking this team got 17 games worse from last year. I get Lee is apparently a huge fan of pablo and cant see what Arraez brings to the team, but it's hard to be that bad. We will have one of the best rotations in the league if we stay healthy. There is a healthy floor with a limited ceiling due to the lack of 1-2 more impact bats. but 52 wins is absurd.

        • also, we will get a taste of pablo early. he is starting opening day for the twins and we play them the 2nd series of the year, so he will be pitching against us pretty soon.

          • I undertand (not really) that the team feels financially committed to play Garcia and Soler, but why not bat them 8th and ninth instead of in the middle of the order to be rally killers. With Stallings, Soler and Garcia grouped together, fans could take the time to go to the concession stand or something.

At least the Marlins have hit more homers (11) than Atlanta's Matt Olson this spring. He's only hit 8.

              • Sandy, luzardo, and Cabrera are pitching 1-2-3. Id guess rogers goes 4th and cueto 5th

Garcia should be hitting 7/8, but Soler is fine anywhere 2-6. It's also fine to just play a month and reorganize. Hopefully DLC and Sanchez hit their 60-70th percentile upside and Garcia will be the 4th OF and playing against lefties pretty quickly.

He looked good in limited at bats against lefties in spring for what it’s worth. We’ll see if it Carries over to the regular season. Had 4 hits in 9 at bats and a walk in spring

                      • It’s entirely possible that the Marlins win 68 games
It’s also entirely possible that they win 85 games
It’s ridiculous to say they will win less than 60 games
literally everything (EVERYTHING) would have to go wrong for them to win less than 60 games

but I did lol so thank you for that

                        • One writer asked: What are the Marlins going to do with all of those position players at AAA? J. Iglesias, Groshans, LeBlanc, Rizzo, Amaya, Hampson, Hinojosa, X. Edwards, Devers, De Goti, Jerar, Johnston, Burdick, Mangum, Mesa, Miller, Myers, PMac, Austin Allen

My respone: That's enough players to field not just one but two really shitty AAA teams.

                          • AAA team will be quite good. (Not that that means anything)

                            • Opportunity knocks. Peraza sent back to AAA after fellow prospect Volpe wins SS job. Yankees are short in the rotation. Trade T Rogers and prospects for Peraza and Pereira.

Yea we've mentioned this permutation the entire offseason even before this.

If you're the Yankees, you want to move Gleyber and roll this out when everyone is healthy.... and then Dominguez naturally replaces Hicks, Wells naturally replaces a catcher (or he bombs and they just sign backups), Sweeney naturally replaces Donaldson, and Pereira naturally replaces IKF (as Volpe and Sweeney can help at SS, and DJ 3B)

                                Now
                                Trevino, Higa
                                Rizzo
                                Volpe, DJ
                                Peraza, IKF
                                Donaldson, Cabrera
                                Judge
                                Bader, Hicks
                                Stanton

                                Soon
                                Trevino/Higa, Wells/Higa
                                Rizzo
                                Volpe, DJ
                                Peraza
                                Cabrera, Sweeney
                                Judge
                                Bader, Dominguez
                                Stanton, Pereira

Cashman wants that second team soon IMO and it's the Yankees so they don't need to be desperate.

As also mentioned, Gleyber is the real target with them. And he does make sense for the Marlins to get out of the Yuli business, get Arraez more at 1B, and Soler will have to play a bit more LF. Gleyber is going to hit IMO. I like him. Figure out the defense later as it's an offensive infusion and Gleyber isn't going to tank the defense. Worse things have happened.

The Yankees have a deep pool of FV40 guys so I do think something like....

                                Gleyber
                                Luis Gil
                                Brett Lockridge

makes sense for Garrett straight up both ways. Gleyber is better, but the control years really take shape with Garrett. Gil is a fringe SP, but potential big time RHP for the bullpen which they need and Yankees can live without. Lockridge is outside their top 25-30 prospects as upper level boom or bust CF. Huge tools. A perfect lottery ticket.

Marlins will have to live with Castano as the 6th SP and pray Eury/Eder/Sixto/Smeltzer are up for the task as they probably are going to get 15+ starts floor, but I'd do it.
