26 million is completely reasonable. Im done with this team. why root for a team who doesnt care about winning? If they dont sign him fine, but they werent even in on literally any of the star free agents despite one of the lowest payrolls in baseball.

26M is reasonable, but this team isn't going to give out a 13 year contract. As much as I hate the way they operate financially, I can't fault them for that. They're just not in position to give that to a 28 year old player. The way these deals are going, if Miami is ever going to get a superstar, they'll have to grow one, and give them a deal like the Braves do, or find a player that isn't getting what they want, and is comfortable with a prove it deal like Correa did last year. Honestly, something probably has to change with MLB or the competitive balance is going to get even worse. There is such a stark contrast between the have's and have nots right now with these crazy contracts.

That doesn't excuse no activity, though. If they're just going to throw their hands up and say they can't compete in this market, they need to sell the team. They should be looking for upside moves like Bellinger, and trading pitching and prospects for bats.

like what is the sherman plan here? Is he just going to spend 0 dollars every offseason and just hope the team appreciates to more than he bought it for eventually and then sell? why buy this team to not do literally anything? why couldnt we just for once have an owner with fuck you money like Mark Cuban who will spend what it takes to win here. I just dont understand how Sherman does not realize that if he just spent stupid money and placed a competitive team out there, he would field a winning team and bring fans out and make it up in increased revenue. How fucking stupid do you have to be and how little do you have to understand this market to think that the fans will ever come out if they dont put a competitive team out there first? It has to be one of the worst ownership tenures in terms of understanding the market you bought in.

Yeah I just don't understand. He's got 3 other franchises in the same market that are winning/doing well and have good attendance proving that people will come out to see a good product. Why it's so hard to understand that they need to spend BEFORE people come out is beyond me.

Sherman doesn't really have "stupid money" to spend. He is wealthy compared to us but compared to other owners he is destitute.

I would assume the plan, such as there is one, is to do the same thing Loria did...basically use the team to launder money into his own pocket.

It really is a disgrace MLB approved the sale to this group.

They only approved it because Jeter was involved. Otherwise, it likely would've gone to the Mas group.

They don't even do...small moves I guess...well. Letting Holloway, Poteet, and Neidert walk is a bit insane. They would all be very good Bullpen arms.

In all fairness, I like the bolds - for what they are - but holy fuck nothing major for a team that won under 70 and needs a lot of help even if "unlucky."

A $600 million dollar net worth is clown money compared to many MLB owners.
