So do you wait for that and consider 24-28 the real window.... or try and jumpstart it and trade for Jimmy Butler right now and spend to make up deficiencies.

It's an obvious answer, but just saying maybe they are fine floating 2 more seasons.
Except doing that destroys what little is left of the fanbase, I'm sorry. The die-hards are ready to bail and not care anymore, and they're tone deaf if they don't understand that. I hope someone in the FO reads the few Marlins forums to get a pulse of fans.

It's just stupid. This forever moving target of "we'll try and be good in year 2022, no 2023, no 2024, no 2025, no 2026" is beyond old.

    • Luke Voit traded to the Padres for super cheap. Would've been an interesting Power Bat to pick up.

      • according to mish the plan is to split aguilar and cooper at 1b. Which means that they have a wide opening at DH.

Surprised Lewin isn't at least in the mix.

          • Monte Harrison DFA'd, just unbelievable that both Brinson are DFA'd before the 2022 season, what a disastrous trade.

He's got an option. He's a perfect injury replacement and get every day PA in AAA. Optimistically starter next year.

The team wants both of them in the lineup every day ... one will be at first base and the other at DH

He’s 25 years old, if he can’t outproduce Cooper and Aguilar now (not saying he would) not sure it’s going to happen. Just saying, surprised it’s a foregone conclusion he ends up in AAA.

                  • Braves just signed Jansen. It’s very clear to me now that the Marlins will not be spending any money on impactful FA’s post-lockout

                    • Yeah, I'd have to say the rumors that Jeter left because they weren't going to spend money look to be true. What a disappointment.

                      • Phillies sign Castellanos for 5/100

I think this is it, folks. It's about time to move on....

                        • We can't sign a guy for 5/100? If he got some ridiculous deal, I get letting him go elsewhere, but 5/100??

We're never getting anyone noteworthy to sign here.

                          • “#Marlins GM Kim Ng spoke tonight.

"Ideally, we want a center fielder who is an offensive threat. That would be our primary objective. If that's not attainable, and you're not going to mortgage the future for one, then I think you have to go to Plan B."”

I think we have to start to wonder if Kim Ng is capable of pulling the trigger. It was an issue at the deadline, and being unwilling to give up prospects right now is inexcusable. I refuse to believe there are no deals out there where you don’t have to significantly overpay for a good player, and they shouldn’t be worried about a slight overpay.

                              • I'm not going to complain about the money we did spend, but if we were going to go so freaking cheap once again, why did we bother with Avisail Garcia? Was that really supposed to be our big move that was going to right the ship and put butts in the seats?
