The report that the Marlins might have offered Albert Pujols a $225 million deal is not true. The Marlins did make an offer but the total dollar amount is under $200 million. Still not sure on the years.
The reported offer for Jose Reyes– six years and $90 million — is not accurate but is close.

Not surprised it wasn't the $225 million. Brown never said this specifically (although he certainly implied that $225 million was the offer he assumed).
A first offer isn't supposed to be our best offer. Also, any team that's willing to offer $180+ million to any player should be considered serious contenders for said player.
