Just feels like his decisions are not in line with what they should be given what the end goal is for the organization.
It seems like the whole organization is to blame for the Brinson debacle.

As for this inning, Graves might’ve been the best option. Conley and Steckenrider were already used...the rest of the bullpen sucks.

    • Doesnt really matter regardless. Nice to see Galloway making a contribution. Nice story. Hopefully we can get some prospects up here along with the ones already up here in September to make it watchable (Brinson and Cooper, Alcantara, Lopez, Richards, Anderson, and Dean).

Get as much playing time for Brinson, Cooper, Alcantara, Anderson, Lopez, maybe a couple starts from Neidert before sending him to AAA to start next year, Richards, Steck in save situations, etc.
They don't have to protect Neidert on the 40 man so they probably shouldn't do that, as that takes away a spot for someone like Bostick, Lee, Graves, Rucinski, etc. I mean, not a big deal, but might as well maximize.

        Yep.

1st time through order .681 OPS
        2nd time .765
        3rd time 1.074

He is a 2 inning pitcher, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They need to get over how much they are paying him and take the 80-100 innings out of the pen next year.

        • I really wish they would stop hyping Anderson up as a rookie of the year candidate. He's not even in the conversation. Nice rookie year, but stop.

          • I really like Dean as a potential LF for a few years. Reminds me a lot in terms of his body type of Josh Wilingham. Seems like another potential Brian Anderson type piece that might not be a star but is a pretty solid starter for a few years.

And again, I really like Ortega.

With all the shitty arms we've thrown out in the bullpen, the way we've dealt with Wittgren is super weird and it has been for a few years. He deserves to be up here.

Wittgren isn't going to be a Super 2 anymore though? He'll be one of the 5 right handers to start next year in the pen so it'll all work itself out.

Dean’s swing reminds me of Uggla a bit. I’m glad he’s finally up. We need to see if he’s a potential starter for next year. Ortega has been very solid. It’ll be interesting to see if he can keep it up the rest of the year.

                • So, per MLBTR regarding the Orioles and their IFA money:

                  https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/...s-dodgers.html

The Orioles announced today that they’ve signed outfielder Isaac Bellony. He’ll receive a $220K bonus, per Steve Melewski of MASNsports.com (via Twitter). Bellony, originally born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, was signed out of the Dominican Republic. Baltimore GM Dan Duquette describes him as “a young, switch-hitting center fielder with power, speed, and a strong arm, who was recruited by several clubs.” Bellony didn’t rank among the top 50 international prospects from Baseball America, though the very fact that the Orioles are signing him at all is of note. Baltimore has refrained from participating in international free agency for years, reportedly as a directive under owner Peter Angelos, but Duquette plainly stated last month that the organization plans to change that philosophy as it embarks upon a lengthy rebuild.
Indeed, the Orioles have even added additional spending capacity via trades. That has allowed them to make a volume of signings while also perhaps lining up bigger targets. (Rumors have focused on Cuban prospect Victor Victor Mesa.) Per Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun (via Twitter), the Baltimore organization has also recently inked infielder Moises Ramirez ($225K) and outfielders Damien Valdez ($200K) and J’Rudjeanon Isenia ($125K) to notable contracts.
That's 220K + 225K + 200K + 125K, which is a total of 770,000 less that the Orioles have in their pool now. I don't remember what the total they had was (wasn't it around 8M?).

I think they were around $8.25 after Gausman. A fair estimate is probably $7.5 million, give or take, after these deals. I think the Marlins have the 2nd most around $4.5 million.

Obviously not the news we all hope for regarding Victor money, but hopefully the Orioles spend $2 million more to get Miami into the ballpark once no states taxes, lifestyle, etc. get involved.

                    • Baltimore has about 7.5 Million left
                      Miami has about 4.5 million

They want VV when cleared and Mesa Jr in 2019 but also have a backup plan if they can't get him

Plan right now is offer VV 4.4 million and then "overpay" for Mesa Jr in 2019. That way VV could get more than 4.4 million from us by us giving Mesa Jr like 3 million even tho he probably should only get like 1 million

If he doesn't want that the plan is sign Mesa Jr,maybe Gaston and hold cash to see if anyone else comes on market before July 1

Nothing wrong if u have IFA cash come Jan 2019-u never know who might come on the market. Maybe a Cuban for us OR a Japanese guy for a West Coast team. Trade the cash for prospects

                        So their plan is fraud?

Not fraud its called money management. Instead of VV getting 7.5 and Mesa Jr getting 1 they give VV 4.5 now and Mesa Jr 3 million in 2019. Not Miami's fault what Mesa Jr does with his cash-can keep it or give it to his brother/father

Well yea it is, because Miami has then induced Victor Victor into signing by guaranteeing more money for his brother. MLBPA and the other clubs will go ape shit over this circumvention. It's true the "family" can do what they want with the money, but that's also not playing by the rules that have been established.

                            It's a fraud.

Im fairly certain that is flatly not allowed. It is as plain an example of circumvention of the IFA rules as there could possibly be. Im cool if it works and we do that and get both, but its pretty flatly a circumvention of IFA pool rules.
