I'm just thinking something like this. O'Grady is obviously the least important name here and could easily be replaced by anyone who gets out lefties. He has a clear path to this role though, as the organization is pretty low of lefties. Maybe I'm just hopeful, but this is a real nominal concern.

      Guzman (stud)
      Steckenrider (stud)
Wittgren (good 3rd-5th guy out of bullpen)
Merandy (think fastball/slider plays up here and should be a plus reliever, or exchange for a guy from below)
Gallen/Yamamoto/Lopez/Hernandez/Richards/Meyer (the SP flameout "long man")

1st LHP - TBD, don't have this guy yet in organization to me. Ideally comes back from Castro/Bour/Dietrich/Straily/etc.???
Garcia/Peters/Ca. Smith (the lefty "long man" SP flameout)
      O'Grady (the LOOGY)
I feel like LOOGY's have kinda become extinct now with the #bullpenning movement. Not too many teams rostering LOOGY's anymore, prefering guys who can throw multiple innings out of the pen because starters innings keep going down.

So JT Realmuto will turn this garbage singles hitting team into “not bad at all” when he comes back.

        K. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

didnt say that, but a team with multiple holes in the lineup due to Wallach/holaday replaced with JT and a RF essentially replaced with Prado (prado replacing Anderson who replaces shuck/maybin will be an improvement). i appreciate the cynicism but that along with straily and chen (for however long he remains healthy) no matter how much you want to remain critical is a drastic improvement from those guys.

sorry for taking the wild stance of a top 5 catcher in the league replacing likely the worst catcher in the league and an established vet like Prado essentially replacing a guy like Shuck/Maybin as our 2 worst holes in our lineup as "not bad at all." totally wild stance for me to take. how dare me.

I feel like we've gotten way more production out of RF than what we've gotten from CF, and you have to think Brinson gets sent down very soon and in his stead will be Shuck/Maybin. Honestly I don't know what you expect Prado to be when he gets back, but good chance he's not the player he was 2 years ago. It will still be a bad offense. If Brinson somehow turns it on and becomes the player we thought he would be this year, we might be ok, but until then we're gonna be bad.

                  • I was hoping Martin Prado and Wei-Yin Chen wouldn’t come back at all.

I think if they keep brinson up here he will make adjustments and at least not be the albatross he's been. And I think as long as prado is healthy he can be what he was (around .750 OPS guy) and actually giving quality ab's unlike some of the other guys we've had getting ab's thus far like wallach, holladay, rivera, telis, etc.

why would you hope that? all that does is make them even more impossible to trade and its not like they are blocking any prospects from playing by having them play.

                      • Lewis Brinson’s BABIP thus far this year: .200

He’s going to be just fine and he is a beast defensively.

I think so to, but i wouldnt mind sending him down to work on plate discipline a little anyways and get that extra year. Also, i agree some of it has been luck to an extent and i didnt watch yesterdays game cause i was disappointing myself by watching the heat game but he hasnt been making great contact a lot. I think he only needs to be an .800 + ops guy to be a star. Similar to buxton and other guys like that who dont have the best bat but their defense combined with a quality bat make them a really good player. Adam Eaton and Lorenzo cain to some extent as well. I think we end up getting 3 really good position players from that trade and it ends up looking really good in a few years even with as good as yelich is.

He can't hit the ball out of the infield. That is what is bothering me the most. He's hitting all ground balls.

They’re not going to have any trade value anyway. They both suck and are a waste of time.

That’s a silly way to look at .BABIP.

                              1. The .200 number is the result of not a lot of hard contact.
                              2. This doesn’t take into account the complete lack of power so far.

His defense has been good though.

Neither of them suck when healthy, and prado absolutely could have at least some trade value in the offseason, especially if he plays well this year like he has when hes been healthy for us.
