I say no. Brinson could relax and observe more if he's hitting lower in the order. Veterans like Maybin and even Rojas are more likely to get on base.
Lineup spot doesn't matter much. If anything, they should protect Brinson and Anderson (as the "long term" guys) with the best hitters around them to hopefully get them in better opportunities to succeed. Something like

    Realmuto (Maybin for now)
    Brinson
    Castro
    Anderson
    Bour
    Dietrich
    Maybin
    Rojas

A solid MLB hitter in front and behind them. Only Brinson and Anderson matter on that list (I can see the other 6 not on the team August 1) so do everything you can to get them to turn into solid or better regulars as fast as possible.

    • Ya leave Brinson where he is and even maybe move anderson up. get the young guys as many AB's as possible in a lost year regardless. Let them struggle.

I completely agree with you, and Brinson is not patient at all. So many SO and swing and misses. I would also move Castro from the 2 hole. He's prone to GIDP.

I don't get why not have Galloway or Lee in the team. That might have cost us the game on Tuesday with Bour running. If Cooper wasn't available and still hurt just put him on the DL.

              • Ive been talking about Brinson's plate discipline since spring. Even with his great spring his K/BB ratio was terrible and he should have gone down and worked on it until his service time date passed. I could see him needing to go down for a month at some point during the season unless they want him up here for good.

Also, Lee and Galloway arent up here because they arent good. People need to stop overrating Lee. Guy has the same problem as Sierra even if he's hit better in the minors: he's a slap hitter whose numbers will be hard pressed to be replicated against major league pitching because he has a complete lack of power. His ceiling is 4th OF.

                • Smith has been all over the place today.

                  • What kind of jump was that by Brinson?

                    • our lineup is quite powerless

also Garcia needs to be in the rotation

                      • interesting bet would be when the next time we are over .500 over 2 weeks into the season. I'd bet 2020 but i could see maybe next year depending on the progress of the prospects.

                        • We can all agree that the first Brinson trial is over. His confidence is crushed. I'm voting for .... drum roll ... Galloway!

Boy, Smith was awful. Runs off walks are the most painful.

dude i hate to continue to be mean but you have no idea what you are talking about in terms of player development.

Brinson should have never been on the team to start the year though. Made no sense both from a development standpoint on top of the service time reasoning. His plate discipline is just not there. He is ready defensively, but his K/BB ratio in spring just showed he was destined to do what he is doing right now through 7 games which is an 11/1 K/BB ratio. Doesnt mean his "confidence is crushed" though. Professional athletes dont have confidence crushed in a week of games.

I also dont think Brinson needs to be a star for the Yelich trade to still be really good. Ive never been of the opinion that he is a star type guy. To me he is a Lorenzo Cain in his last few royals years type of guy where he will be a 3-4 WAR guy with unreal defense and an inconsistent (non-star level) type of bat where he can hit 15-20 hr's, steal 30 bags, but not have a stellar OBP. To me the key to the Yelich trade was always the depth of the trade more than the star power (even though i think Harrison still has star ceiling). That trade was all about quality lineup pieces rather than finding a star. If Diaz can turn into a 25 hr type 2b, Harrison can be an all around athlete type of guy, and Brinson can be the kind of guy i described, you just got 3 really good cost controlled lineup pieces that can all put up 3-4 WAR and anchor your position player talent for years to come.

                            • I loved the Yelich trade because I didn't think Brinson was even the best of it. For me, Harrison was the gem. His brief spring took the wind out of my sails. I harbor doubt now.

I guarantee that Brinson is headed to AAA - better sooner than later.
