absolutely, i think DD is a really solid piece just saying i think that Yelich is obviously significantly better. I think Dietrich is a high .700's OPS type guy with 3 years left of team control and a lot of positional versatility. I hope he continues to hit and gets a nice prospect package at the deadline from an AL team. I could see the A's being a great fit for him.

          • dont think the problem is the pitch selection as much as it is Guerrero's inability to throw offspeed stuff. same problem hes had since coming here. Just doesnt have another quality pitch.

I know, just the first thing that came to mind cuz I'm always complaining about him pinch running for Bour.

                • I’m fine with Guerrero losing the game and not Despaigne.

With that said, Guerrero has some Ellington in him.

both have similar problems. neither has any consistent offspeed stuff and both have a track record of not being able to throw strikes consistently. not a long term problem considering how many rotation prospects we have that will turn out to be relievers, just a problem as far as his long term status with the organization.

Guerrero is seemingly just another example of our scouts either falling in love with a guys fastball or thinking they can all of a sudden teach a guy who cant throw anything other than a fastball to have quality offspeed stuff. Imagine if the padres didnt have to return castillo, that trade would have been even more of a disaster than it already is/was.

count the sox as this years nats (aside from already having a closer) as their bullpen aside from kimbrel needs a ton of work. the only real flaw with their roster now.

                    • Good game guys.

I'm loving the Marlins plate discipline. Especially Anderson's. He has being amazing for us. Break tomorrow and then we go to philly for a sweep.

                      • Positives: Urena was really good against a really good lineup and aside from that first inning on opening day has been really good against 2 really good lineups. Anderson's plate discipline seems to be really good going off of last year and then spring this year and the first few games this year. Even if he isnt a star, not being a huge K guy with limited bb's will just improve the quality of his bat. I think he looks like a great long term 3b and the rookie of the year candidate that this team will have that wasnt expected.

                          • Fantastic start by Urena. I had my doubts after Day One, but he absolutely shined with that changeup last night - best start of the year for Marlins. The rotation is going to surprise people, esp Marlin fans.

Can't find James Nelson on any of our MiLB rosters.

                            • We signed Trevor Rosenthal to some sort of deal.

                              • Question: Is it wise to bat a rookie in the lead off spot? Conventional wisdom suggests that a high on base percentage is a prerequisite for batting first - because that hitter is guaranteed the most plate appearances and is setting the table for the top hitters that follow. Should the player with the least major league experience and therefore least knowledge of NL pitchers be assigned that duty?

I say no. Brinson could relax and observe more if he's hitting lower in the order. Veterans like Maybin and even Rojas are more likely to get on base.
