I still have reservations about Edwards. Ignoring his lack of power and poor(albeit serviceable) defense, his BABIP is in the 400s(398 last season) and his savant page is mostly blue and he is pretty bad against any non-fastball.

Very odd player.

he's had the high BABIP his entire career, throughout the minors as well, because he is fast and has a tremendous eye. You dont need to hit for power to be effective. He doesnt swing at bad pitches often and is in the 75th percentile of speed. His chase rate and whiff rate are always good because of this, and he is a good player overall because of it. he's just a flat out good hitter with a great eye. he's not a good SS though. I'd stick him at 2b and see what happens.

His baseball savant page is not mostly blue, it's just blue in the areas relating to hitting the ball hard. he has low numbers for bat speed, hard hit %, expected slugging, and average exit velocity. as long as you dont try to confuse him for a power hitter, he's a damn good player.

Robby snelling with another great outing in AA last night. He wont be there much longer. 3 starts this year, 16.1 IP, 20 k's, 2 walks, 2.20 ERA and .98 WHIP.

Just read that andrew Salas is the youngest player in A ball or higher at 17.1 years old. 2nd youngest is a brewers prospect who is almost a year older at 17.9. Salas now has an .816 OPS and 8 walks to 6 k's. He's going to be in the next update of the top 100 lists you have to think, and possibly pretty high.

Starlyn Caba from the luzardo trade has 14 walks and 5 hits on the year, which is something. He also had more walks than hits all of last year.

josh naylor has turned himself into a nice little player. it's a shame he accidentally stabbed a teammate and we had to get rid of him for the legendary marlins run of andrew cashner.

matt mervis is on pace for 57 hr's and 114 rbi. i will again say the cubs giving up on him after just over 100 at bats in favor of vidal brujan made no sense.

Also, i have to take back what i said last night. after looking into the minor league profile of cash considerations, i like that pickup for bride. lot's of potential.

that's a great sign. give him till june in AA and then move him up if he's still crushing. he's never really had extended minor league success so i'd let him gain some confidence in AA before moving him up.

One of the sites, i think BBall america, moved joe mack to 100 in their list. He's kind of caught behind Ramirez though so hopefully if ramirez keeps hitting they move them both up a level.

I think Andrew Salas will be in a top 100 list in the not too distant future. Obviously very early, but like his brother in San Diego, he's holding his own at a super young age relative to his level. He's only 17 and in low A ball, he's got 7 walks to 5 k's, plus 4 sb's in just 6 games.

Our minor league hitters are stealing bases at an absurd rate. As an organization we are first in the minors in SB's and at last check, second place was nowhere even close to us. Even guys like Ramirez have 4 sb's so far. Caba has 6. Salas has 4. Head has 5. Alderman has 5.

I like Salas a lot too.

If they are going to go full rebuild which they obviously are, i really hope they dont do the service time games. I dont want to see the Gillispie's, Bellozo's, Wagaman's, Derek Hill's, Fortes, Brantly's of the world. Give us Mazur, Snelling when he is ready if he keeps up the good start, Ramirez, Mack, DDLS when he gets going. If they are going to be bad, at least give the young guys some run and see what you have.

Kemp Alderman who had 1.208 OPS in the Arizona Fall League in 40 PAs, has a 1.182 OPS at AA this year in 37 PAs. Looks like he may be turning into a top prospect.

i think we're good on connor gillispie in the rotation. Give Mazur a try. Him and snelling have pitched really well in their few starts. Snelling could use some AAA time. Give Mazur a shot. Gillispie is not a major league pitcher.

wow, surprising on bride. He was pretty good last year in a lot of meaningless at bats. Surprising that they would cut him loose and potentially lose him entirely instead of just sending pauley down for a few days until norby is ready
