already DFA'd the asian pitcher we got for Arraez. Just an awful trade. No excuse for not paying him. Head has played 3 games in a month and is in low A ball as a non top 100 prospect. Martorella hitting .190 with a .470 OPS in AA for us. Marsee hitting sub .200 with a .624 OPS for us. But keith law liked it so that counteracts everything. Meanwhile Arraez has 1.1 WAR according to Bball reference and .8 for fangraphs with the padres in less than a month, just won player of the week, has struck out just 4 times in 100 at bats, and is leading the league yet again in hitting.

you could have classified it as awful the minute it was made. It's a loser franchise move instead of paying a guy for once who was the heart of the team, has a skillset that is unmatched in the entire league, and isn't actually going to be paid that much for what he provides. The prospects are not good, nor are they anywhere close to being productive big league players on a team that supposedly has a top 5 rotation next year

super emotional = all injured or putting up terrible numbers while not a single top 100 list has them in there. super emotional for sure. has nothing to do with concrete stats like arraez having by far the best k rate in baseball for several seasons in a row plus being on his way to winning a 3rd straight batting title.

did you really just use his 2.64 XFIP in 3.1 major league innings this year? The guy is 29, has a 5.16 XFIP for his career, and a 5.83 career ERA and 1.65 career whip in 139 innings. he sucks.

you will do anything to rationalize what the team is doing and give them a benefit of the doubt they have done absolutely nothing to deserve. you're a homer. they are very clearly blowing up the team and starting a 3+ year rebuild that won't pan out yet again because they have an owner who has no business being anywhere close to sports ownership and will never spend the money necessary to take a next step as a franchise. If they do happen to have a contending team one year, they will start to trade off the pieces once they get expensive because that's what the rays style of team building does. It's an awful way to treat the teams fans, and it will 100% lead to us continuing to be in this perpetual cycle of selling off players and never building even a league average payroll.

if they trade luzardo, they can get nothing less than coby mayo back from the orioles. Kjerstad cannot be the main piece back. They need a cornerstone lineup talent. You could maybe talk me into Basallo being that guy but that would be borderline from me unless there are other major pieces also coming back.

Can there be a separate thread for the Arraez trade? Whenever anyone wants to revisit how bad it looks every few days, they can just go there to vent. I don’t see the point of continually beating that dead horse.

Luzardo has 2 years of control after this year. If he goes to Baltimore I want a big package.

What they really need to do, and this is kind of shitty, but take advantage of Acuna being down and unload DLC to Atlanta.

Even selling high, DLC doesn't have the most value. But do it for a package of C Draka Baldwin, OF Jesse Franklin, RHP Drue Hackenberg, and LHP Dylan Dodd. Basically 3 wildcards to stock the system and another LHP arm to take Luzardos spot in the rotation.
