  • David Robertson has been an absolute loser here. And his attitude is shitty too.

It was malpractice to not just non tender him after last year. It was obvious he brings nothing, he had the terrible year last year, the spring training he had was even more horrific, and then they still not only brought him on the roster, but have watched him day in and day out for another 5 months and are still trotting him out there

      • Good thing the dolphins get under way soon. At least their buffoon owner tries to win

        • This team has had no plan for eury for months and it has helped completely upend the season. Last week, he throws 90 pitches over 6 scoreless and we take him out. Today, on a full weeks worth of rest, he throws 75 pitches in 6 scoreless innings, but we take him out? Why the fuck is he on an innings count instead of a pitch count? Why the fuck was he sent down when he was cruising only to waste 10 of his innings in aa when the team was predictably floundering? Complete and utter mismanagement for a full month and a half now. A fucking disgrace this manager, management, and ownership are. This is not a serious franchise. Can’t wait for Lou’s next post about how we’re just one Sherman “werth” signing away as if that will ever happen. We don’t have a serious owner, nothing will change until that changes

          • When Eury pitches great, the FO is to blame for not letting Eury pitch more innings.

When Eury doesn’t pitch well, the FO is to blame for sending him to the minors.

It’s almost as if shutting him down for a month affected his rhythm his first two starts. What a novel concept. He had no feel for his off speed stuff either of his first two starts back after a month layoff

they either had no plan whatsoever or an awful plan for him, not sure which was worse. Counting innings instead of pitches is nonsensical. Glad we sent him down to save him for October though. Maybe he can pitch our only October game against the pirates to end the year

              • It's been a fun season, but the collapse has been sad to watch. All they had to do was tread water and they'd have been fine. Instead they go 12-26....good job guys!

he and bell are going to opt out. but dont worry, we have to trust that Kim and Bruce will re-invest that in free agency where they have an immaculate track record and this year's class is just overflowing with talent.

                    • Per Mish and Jackson, we've had "preliminary" talks of an extension with Soler

I don't think Bell is opting out of $16.5M

i would bet he is going to opt out and try to get another 2-3 year deal. This year's hitter class is awful. His baseball savant page is great. He is a really damn good DH. someone will give him multiple years. Hope it's us for 2 years. he is hitting .242 with an expected average of .265, and he is slugging .424 with an expected slugging of .464. His WOba is .325 with an expected of .352. 2nd highest barrel % of his career, 2nd highest launch angle of his career. he is having a much better year than his numbers indicate.

I asked this a week ago and no one responded to me.

That is also a hostage negotiation - Soler can't do shit with a qualifying offer hanging over him. It's going to be 1/$19 and change or they work out a 2/$32 sort of thing with Soler's camp probably begging for year 3. I shoot for that 2 year deal or QO him. His pick.

He's extremely likely not going to opt out. He had 150 terrible games before coming to the Marlins which teams will judge, and his overall analytics are similar to last year and lower than his 2021 rate (the year where he got the 2 year deal). He'd probably get 2/mid $20 something in free agency, so why is he opting out when he can take the $16.5m and bet on himself at being at least a $10m player in 2025? Profar lost money in FA betting on himself. Those things happen. A slug defender DH type only has so much upside in free agency and whose to say he is better than Hoskins, Teoscar, and even Grichuk and Duvall types who will be cheaper more than likely and teams may prefer. The market has changed. I'm going with he'll take the more money for next year and bet on himself to try and get a 2-3 year deal post 2024.

                              • I'm pleased that Soler is putting up power stats that will make it likely he opts out. I'd cheerfully give his job to whats-his-name from Gonzaga.
