You can do both. You can not tell me Soler is any worse in LF than DLC. You can make it all work if you want to.

find you someone that trusts you the way lee trusts minor league stats for older minor leaguers relative to their competition. Maybe johnston can become a piece at some point, but to say that you will cheerfully give up the guy who is about to hit the 2nd most home runs for a marlins player in franchise history and is putting up an .850 OPS this year for a guy who is 26 in AAA and whose name you cant even seem to rememeber is so beyond absurd.

        Yep.

It also doesn't matter about the defense as Soler's xwOBA is .371 and is 19th overall of all hitters. He's an offensive superstar this year and you can't replicate that offense. You also just DH him next year assuming he takes the inevitable QO and maybe Bell and Soler are each 70+ game DHs and 70 game respective 1B and LF starters. Everyone is going to eat here as Edwards, Berti, Amaya, and DLC can easily be 400+ PA players, and Sanchez and Jazz may just be 500+ PA guys due to LHP issues. Plenty of time to mix and match everyone, and that's when they are healthy.

        • Nick Fortes is baffling.

His defense grades out ridiculously well.

And he isn't striking out any worse than normal. But his BABIP is down(not a lot) and his BB rate is also down, along with his ISO being half what it was last season, making his offense suffer.

He is frustrating because he seems like a guy who could be a perfectly fine starting C on a decent team.

But at the end of the day I think the Fish need to deal. Go get Ivan Herrera in the Winter.

his defense is good in large part due to his framing, something that hopefully becomes a nonexistent tool in a year or 2 when we mercifully go to robo umps instead of relying on middle aged men who have no repercussions for poor performance calling balls and strikes. He is also terrible at throwing runners out stealing. His pop time went from the 78th percentile last year to the 11th this year. He is a fine backup C, we need a legitimate upgrade there and at SS heading into next season. and not a rookie that they are hoping might be good. They need to go get a proven entity. Rookie catchers almost never come out and perform well, so if you rely on herrera playing every day next year, you are asking for more terrible production from the C position.

            • Angels are putting pretty much every guy they’ve gotten this year on waivers in a pure salary dump. Giolito, Lopez, grichuk among others. They better fucking make a claim on giolito and Lopez. All it takes is a waiver claim and to pay the last month of their salary. Let’s see how truly cheap Bruce is

              • White Sox also put mike Clevinger on waivers. He or giolito and Reynaldo Lopez would be huge additions for this last month

That was why they should have traded for him at the deadline.

St. Louis signed Contrares to a lengthy deal. Kziner is pretty settled as the backup. 4 of their top prospects are catchers.

They were selling and he is blocked at every position. He has hit at every level of the minors. And they had half a season to let him get to gel with the staff.

                            • What exactly does Bryan de la Cruz have to do to stop being played as a starter? He was awful all year last year outside of 1 meaningless hot streak in September, and he’s had the same thing this year. He has a fucking .725 ops, he’s one of the worst fielders in baseball, and he’s had a single Month all year with an ops over .692. How this team can’t see this dude fucking blows is beyond me. Send him down and claim grichuk
