I'd say that is window-service and they know deep down they aren't winning shit. Hence, this goes to the whole argument - why are we going to spend on Correa when we are going to lose anyways. I think predominant thought here is spend money a year early, help the kids, and build culture (see Rangers - Seager/Semien), and you know build your business as any normal businessman would, but Bruce is too fucking poor to make that leap of faith a year early.

I often think what I would do if I were Bruce. I am poor, but I want to win. I have to balance these things. Is it a, I have one shot here to spend real money and I'm going to do this Loria style. In 2024 the pitching will be ready, so *now* I am going to greenlight that three year budget of $125-150m contracts for 2024-2026, DEFER money on top of that, and if shit happens, I'm selling and burdening the next guy with these bad contracts. And we live our own personal black mirror of Sandy, Arraez, Jazz, and Luzardo are Yelich, Realmuto, Ozuna, and Stanton. Rinse repeat...... Or it works, and that is the catalyst to the longterm establishment of the Marlins as a middle of the pack acceptable payroll team and I am a genius. That's what Bruce must be thinking right? It can't be as basic as, IDGAF and I'm just collecting checks and/or enjoy this prestige of being one of the shittiest owners in sports.

    • Garcia! Hopefully that gives him some confidence. The pitch clock stuff seems to be fucking with him in particular a lot given how slow he was used to working last year. Good for him, hope he can get hot

      • Segura hit the ball hard again, good to see one get through. He’s the guy I’m least worried about

        • Super glad we had stallings up there with a runner in scoring position instead of fortes. Just beyond useless. Non competitive at bats. He would put up a sub .700 ops In aaa

          • Sandy looks much sharper tonight than his first start. His command wasn’t there last week, he looks like he has it tonight

            • If Sandy wants to win this he’s going to have to throw a complete game shutout.

                        • The umps are still way too bad at calling balls and strikes. Why on earth can we all immediately see whether something is a ball or strike at home but we’re still relying on this middle aged guys opinion behind the plate?

                          • What on earth was Garcia looking for there?

                            • Dlc is not a starting caliber player. He has no plate discipline or eye. Hitting the ball hard doesn’t matter when you don’t hit the ball very often. Give Sanchez more starts please

I really want Jazz to be awesome, but I think people pencilling him in as a superstar, 2K coverboy, a little premature. He was only really good for about 200 ABs in his career and then missed the rest of the season. Hopefully he has a big year and cements himself, but I’m leery.
