Andrus projections ROS - .9 , 1.8, 1.4, 2.1, 1.7. Weighted average 1.56 WAR

Gurriel projections ROS - 1.6, .3, .6, .2, .2. Weight average .58 WAR.

Andrus does have significantly more PA the last 4 though, so we can double Gurriel to help you out here.

Gurriel projections ROS doubling his PA for the 4 low projections - 1.6, .6, 1.2, .4, .4. Weight average .84 WAR. <--- This is more fair and is a lower number than 1.56 by a lot. Andrus is an upgrade. As stated, if Yuli has an .800 OPS this year, close the streets and you can have your parade. But the stats don't backup your gut feeling here.

It's impossible to reconcile Wendle/Berti are fine, and then saying he's not a MLB starter. Because he is a starter here. 2-22.

But I do have to knock you again for citing statistics wrong for Garcia. He's a fine defender. Look at statcast and Fangraphs. I provided you the information. 2-23.

defense does count. Wendle is a good defender. Using your beloved 2 WAR, Wendle was right on pace for 2 WAR in a terrible year last year where he had injury issues at 3b. He put up 1.2 WAR over 371 ab's, and again, HE GRADED OUT WELL DEFENSIVELY. they do not need a defense first SS. they have that already. Andrus provides nothing they dont already have, and again, he's a terrible hitter. Putting up a career 720 OPS against lefties as if that provides anything major of value to us over what we already have is just not reality. It's not impossible to reconcile. We definitely need an upgrade over wendle/berti long term, but they are fine if the alternative is a well below average hitter in andrus being brought in for his defense. Wendle is what you are looking for. He's not a ml starter on a good team, but he's pretty much what you are getting out of andrus. They have what you are looking for in iglesias already, and iglesias is better against lefties. And he cant get on the team.

Also, someone being a starter here doesnt make them a major league caliber player. you could play me as a starter, that doesnt make me a major league caliber starter.

brazoban, lindgren, and andrew nardi have thrown a combined 17.2 innings, puk has thrown 3. Maybe we start using our best reliever a little more? Floro and Barnes have been good as well. I get we have been in a lot of blowouts so thats why the numbers are so lopsided, but these guys arent being overworked. Even if we have to use them in the 6th inning, use your best relievers.

I don't know, I could never tell if he was doing a schtick or he legitimately thought he was an insider. You couldn't call him out on any opinion because he would just say it's not an opinion he's telling us inside info. But really it was just stuff he read on twitter.

also, it's been overshadowed by how ridiculous Arraez has been, but cooper has been tremendous to start the year. Hopefully we can get a huge free agent year out of him. We need him and Soler to produce along with obviously jazz and arraez to have any shot at staying in it.

They need *anything* at SS and please look at Wendle's LHP hitting splits. Andrus provides *exactly* what they need - a SS who can hit lefties a bit as Wendle can't and Berti is miscast. Let's stop giving the Marlins any credit for making desperation position decisions. Andrus is also a better player than Iglesias and you know that. A 2+ WAR per 600 PA is a good player. You know how good that player is. A roster of 9 2+ WAR guys together is a top 10 position core.

I miss his posts. A story or tweet would come out about a player the team might sign or who the team was looking at on draft day then like an hour later he made an "I'm hearing the team might draft/sign this player" post.

That’s fine, ya they need to address lhp at ss if berti isn’t enough. They did that. Iglesias is significantly better for his career against lefties than Andrus. Andrus is incredibly mediocre against lefties and bad against righties. You’re clamoring for a .720 ops against lefties. That’s not going to move any needle. Gurriel having a bounce back year does do that. Will he continue that? We will see, but that is more impactful for this team than Andrus providing a modest increase against lefties for the ss position over berti.

that’s all I’m saying. The gurriel move working out is much more impactful than the Andrus move working out.
