I’d be really happy if they could lockdown Marte on a 3 year deal in the off season. He was my new favorite Marlins player.

But I totally understand why they moved him.
Yea I keep changing my mind of what the best case scenario is, but it's probably something like: (1) signing Marte to a 3 year deal, (2) trading Pablo/Sandy for a young, controlled, play now, super prospect 2B/SS to have longterm, (3) trading/signing Tucker Barnhart (Reds could use pitching, like Elisier, etc.) for a R/L platoon with Jackson which could actually work, (4) not being cheap and keeping Aguilar, Rojas, and Cooper for depth, and (5) depending on if Brinson actually plays well these 2 months, keeping him on a cheap arbitration tender and hoping he turned himself into a competent backup at minimum or jettisoning him for a legitimate 4th OF, who is going to play a lot as Sanchez and Cooper are probably 450 PA guys at most. I don't think you get another big time PA absorbing OF as you can't "block" Bleday who may be coming fast in June, and if Sanchez hits he has to play.

    Barnhart, Jackson
    Aguilar, Lewin
    Jazz, Berti
    "Young hotshot for Pablo/Sandy", Rojas
    Anderson
    Sanchez
    Marte, Brinson/Veteran 4th OF
    Cooper

I'm really puzzled with Aguilar here still. Nice player, but I think I'd want another OF with his spot, and let Cooper/Lewin play most 1B innings. This seems like a defensive mistake for a bat that is replaceable for the money he will make. I guess they can keep Lewin in AAA next year as I believe he has an option left, and then just get another cheap outfielder (or 3B and let Anderson dabble out there) for now. Who knows.

Yes if they don't get 1500+ massively upgraded PA from guys outside the organization (i.e., someone like Bleday does not count for me here, nor someone like Anderson, Jazz, or Cooper playing more as they've missed some time with injuries, etc.), they have no chance. They need an everyday starter, and 2-3 guys after that to get the extra 900+ PA. Anything less than that is an organizational failure.

He's been legitimately good when given an opportunity for 4 months straight. Hard hit % in that time is 44.1%, medium is 44.1%, and soft hit is just 11.9%. Fly balls and line drives 59% of the time.

And when asked about him, rowson mentioned he's cleaned his swing up a ton which allowed him to drive more balls consistently.
It's not even 100 PA despite it being "4 months." I think you can pump breaks here until September. He's going to play nearly everyday and literally double this sample size to something almost meaningful. BABIP is ludicrous. We'll see what happens.

Outside of Sandy & Luzardo's abomination games this past weekend. Most of that shit ERA is from our opener BS. We have plenty of starters yet we continue this burn the bullpen crap.

Yeah, Neidert made a start yesterday in AAA, yet they decided to go with a David Hess/Sean Guenther bullpen game. Puzzling.

This front office doesn't understand how to manage call ups. They let them have one start and then send em down. Keep 5 SPs up. Instead when they send them down unless someone gets hurt they can't just call them back up. So instead they use this bullpen BS.

Seems like they're actively trying to go for a higher draft pick at this point.

TBH I'd rather Neidert not get thrown to the wolves at Coors. But in literally any other scenario, he should be going.

Maybe, but big picture, I think they need to churn all of these young guy/bullpen options and see who is worth 40 man protecting. It may be day to day frustrating, but this season is purely development time here on out. We know what we're going to get from most of these guys, and a lot of prospect status is going to protect others, so let's see what guys like Campbell, Guenther, Hess, Okert, Pop, Brinson (earned some time), and De La Cruz are going to do.

40 man is going to be really tough to crack.

Jackson, Henry, Aguilar, L. Diaz, Berti, Jazz, Devers, I. Diaz, Rojas, Anderson (10)
Cooper, Encarnacion, Harrison, Sanchez, Conine (5)
Alcantara, Cabrera, Garrett, Hernandez, Lopez, Luzardo, Neidert, Poteet, Rogers, Sixto, Thompson (11)
Bass, Bender, Bleier, Floro, Holloway, Guzman (6)
                      =32

They need minimum 3-4 hitters at the MLB level (catcher, longterm 2b/ss, CF, and another backup OF, maybe Brinson if he hits for 2 months), as well as probably two more bullpen lefties. It's looking pretty tight once you get through this even if they trade one of the better pitchers for guys (who may also go on 40 man).

This ultimately is going to leave 3-5 spots for this cluster, plus vagabond last man on free agent camp invites/Rule 5 picks/etc. who may make the team.

Maybes - Alfaro, Fortes, Brigham, Brinson, De La Cruz, Miller, Sierra
Maybes - Brigham, Campbell, Castano, Guenther, Hess, Okert, Pop

Let them have at it. I'd play all of these guys (health permitting, and some in AAA obviously) every day.

What are we protecting Neidert from? If you made a pecking order of our arms that have made it at least to AA, he'd be maybe 11th at best. This year will be his best and maybe only shot of establishing himself on the roster or at least showing himself off to other teams that may want to trade for him.

                        • Waking up to see brinson did it again last night. 2-4 with a bomb. Up to a .268 average with a .774 ops for the year. I think this is for real

                            • Watching the highlights of the game last night. We used Morimando in a one run game in the 8th? Really seems like they’re self-sabotaging at this point.

He might be playing himself into at least getting another chance to make the team out of spring next year. The at bats just look so much better and more confident and comfortable than he has ever looked at the big league level. Regardless of whether he is here next year, you have to feel good for him. He's been god awful but he works hard and actually gives a shit but just hasnt had the results. Happy for him and i think he eventually figures it out and has a decently long career.

I think he is going to be aaron hicks 2.0. Very similar start to their career. hicks was a top prospect for the twins that struggled for 4 years to start his career and then got a fresh start with the yankees and became a pretty good player.
Fish 16, you're always yelling about sample size for most everybody, yet are ignoring it here.
