Do we have their sprint speed, as I assume Trea is legitimately quicker (Turner also has A LOT more PA and career .343 BABIP which make sense).

I can buy a higher BABIP for Brinson as he is a good athlete, but .349 is still too high.

brinson's the other night was 29.9 ft/s on the way to first which is just below the level of elite which is 30. Trea turner is faster but brinson is also really big and fast.

Small sample size - this is like Lee getting hyped about a 30 year old catcher in AAA hitting well for 6 weeks. But hey, maybe he is figuring it out? Wouldn't that be a turn of events

this doesnt seem like smoke and mirrors. its obviously a small sample size but his numbers even including the shitty april for the entire year are near .800 OPS, and the power has been legitimate in terms of pure counting stats and hard hit% and exit velocity. I think he has made an adjustment that has taken the holes out of his swing and allow him to drive the ball consistently for power.

            • I'm gonna guess Brinson's OPS is around .800 now. If he stays healthy he should about double his amount of ABs for this season. If it's still around .800, then we can talk about who is a major league starter.

                        • I think we need another 100 AB’s of .725+ OPS to say this is the real deal. And I’m REALLY hoping it happens.

                          • more bad baserunning deprives us of the lead pipe lock of a brinson granny that was due up next

He's going to get another 175+ PA if he stays healthy. Can't imagine he isn't in every day here on out. That'll give him a nice 300+ PA on the season and that becomes a good sample size.

If he does hit .725 OPS today forward, that's give/take .770 OPS on the season over 300 PA. I think we'd all freak out if he did that pre-season.

The interesting thing is, he's hitting .282 right now. If we slash 30-40 points off that for BABIP over achieving (which is happening to some extent), that's going to be something like .250/.290/.450. That's basically Adam Duvall (at a quarter the price) if that is what is happening. What a win if he can do that for 3 cheap arbitration years? Yelich trade is still hot garbage, but at least it's something for a contending period for them.

I'm still not getting too excited even after today, but this is something fun to track at least. I hope he walks a bit more here on out. That's where I'll get excited, if those 9% walk rates he did in AAA 2017/2019 come back. If he can pump that to 6%, hit over .250, with this power, I will be very excited.

Good for KC. Let's see if the Marlins get 3-4 big bats in the offseason and don't sacrifice all the pitching to do it.
