Honestly if you told me you think it's off, I'd assume it's in the other direction and they are too high on Lewin, Jerar, Burdick, Mesa Jr., etc.
the grades were a little low for the top guys, and i love jazz and I think he is going to be a rich man's didi gregorious but him above sixto and bleday is off to me.

    • Mish updated his OF percentages. He now has Puig and Dickerson at 35% each with mystery OF at 30%. That’s a 20% drop for Puig and a 10% increase for Dickerson.

i bet that would be because puig wants too much and they really just want a 2 year max stop gap. Also who the fuck could this mystery outfielder be? It feels like that could just be the marlins organization just trying to put out there that they have other options that they are considering. Kind of like how boras consistently tells jon heyman that there is always a mystery team for his guys.

although now that i think of it i doubt mish would put that out there without at least knowing the guy. It's amazing how great mish is with sources within the organization and how awful frisaro is

        • I haven't paid close attention to Mish's Tweets but I wonder if the "mystery OF" is a specific player, or if it's just an amalgam of any OF that hasn't been reported on who could sign with Miami. Hence, he'd be a "mystery" player because it hasn't been one the Marlins have been publicly linked to.

          • Mish seems to know about as much as every local reporter.

Which is nothing. I believe he’s even joked that his percentages are for fun.

            • mlbtraderumors report that Marlins prefer Dickerson to Puig ... for one, I'm darned pleased to hear it. Dickerson batting third or fourth this season struck me as a best case scenario going into the off season. Brad Miller remains on the market ... and I hope we sign both.

mish seems to have many more sources than any other beat writer. None of them ever break any stories.

this is somehow the first multi year major league deal we have given out under the new ownership group.

Nice. I preferred Puig because he would have been more marketable, but Dickerson is a good hitter.

                      • So it will be:

                        C- Alfaro and Cervelli
                        1b- Aguilar and Cooper
                        2b- Diaz
                        SS- Rojas
                        3b- Anderson/Villar
                        LF- Dickerson
                        CF- Brinson/Sierra/Ramirez/Berti?
                        RF- Anderson/ Villar

Not good but i love the way they have surrounded the young kids with much better veterans without giving long term money.

same. I think dickerson is the slightly better player but i thought puig had a higher ceiling and obviously the marketability but either will do.

Outside of aguilar who i dont think will do much of anything here (I prefer cooper at 1b more often), i really like the veterans in the lineup to surround the kids until they are ready. A significant step above the granderson's and neil walkers that we've added recently.

                        • Dickerson will be fine for the next 2 years, but when it comes down to it, he's a scab player who doesn't help us at all when we're ready to be good. There's an off-chance we can compete in 2021, but literally everything has to go right. All 7 of those top prospects in AAA next year need to be contributors day 1 in 2021, and not sure if that's realistic.

I would've liked to have seen us use our ability to spend money in a way that helps us in 2022 and beyond.

                          • 2 years $17.5 million for Dickerson.

I will give them that that is a very good price for Dickerson's abilities. That means they should still be able to spend money in other areas, right?

                            RIGHT?

I would quib it's $2.5 too much, but that's not bad. I think that's teetering on wasting money, but I was more worried they would give Puig 2/$26 and not get a longterm benefit down the road with an option.

If he turns into a FV40 prospect next year, it basically turns into 1.5 years of Dickerson and a FV40 prospect, for $14 million. That's not bad at all.

                              I don't love it, but I don't hate it.

They are probably around $63-65 million now.

I'd take a gamble Alex Wood comes back strong, and sign Ryan Butcher to round out the pen - LEFTIES.

                              • Kole Calhoun got 2 years $18 million, and I think Dickerson is clearly a better player than Calhoun and a year younger.
