although now that i think of it i doubt mish would put that out there without at least knowing the guy. It's amazing how great mish is with sources within the organization and how awful frisaro is

I haven't paid close attention to Mish's Tweets but I wonder if the "mystery OF" is a specific player, or if it's just an amalgam of any OF that hasn't been reported on who could sign with Miami. Hence, he'd be a "mystery" player because it hasn't been one the Marlins have been publicly linked to.

mlbtraderumors report that Marlins prefer Dickerson to Puig ... for one, I'm darned pleased to hear it. Dickerson batting third or fourth this season struck me as a best case scenario going into the off season. Brad Miller remains on the market ... and I hope we sign both.

So it will be:
C- Alfaro and Cervelli
1b- Aguilar and Cooper
2b- Diaz
SS- Rojas
3b- Anderson/Villar
LF- Dickerson
CF- Brinson/Sierra/Ramirez/Berti?
RF- Anderson/ Villar
Not good but i love the way they have surrounded the young kids with much better veterans without giving long term money.

Outside of aguilar who i dont think will do much of anything here (I prefer cooper at 1b more often), i really like the veterans in the lineup to surround the kids until they are ready. A significant step above the granderson's and neil walkers that we've added recently.

Dickerson will be fine for the next 2 years, but when it comes down to it, he's a scab player who doesn't help us at all when we're ready to be good. There's an off-chance we can compete in 2021, but literally everything has to go right. All 7 of those top prospects in AAA next year need to be contributors day 1 in 2021, and not sure if that's realistic.
I would've liked to have seen us use our ability to spend money in a way that helps us in 2022 and beyond.

I will give them that that is a very good price for Dickerson's abilities. That means they should still be able to spend money in other areas, right?
RIGHT?
If he turns into a FV40 prospect next year, it basically turns into 1.5 years of Dickerson and a FV40 prospect, for $14 million. That's not bad at all.
I don't love it, but I don't hate it.
They are probably around $63-65 million now.
I'd take a gamble Alex Wood comes back strong, and sign Ryan Butcher to round out the pen - LEFTIES.
