BREAKING: The @Marlins are parting ways with Juan Nieves (pitching coach), Perry Hill (infield/first base), Frank Menechino (assistant hitting) and Ty Hill (strength and conditioning). Their contracts will not be renewed.
I guess we want guys that our front office hired but stinks to see perry hill go.

I expected some changes, but not that many. It's sad that I don't know, but who's our hitting coach?

            Pags is the hitting coach

Surprised they were let go this year and NOT after next year but from tweet is looks like all their contracts were up. Gonna be like 80%-90% turnover before 2020. Probably 2 or 3 guys will be left

Wouldn't be surprised to see Tino Martinez as the assistant hitting coach next year. Which means DD is 100% gone

The Marlins have parted ways with four veteran coaches -- Juan Nieves (pitching), Perry Hill (first base/infield), Frank Menechino (assistant hitting) and Ty Hill (strength and conditioning). The contracts for all four were up, and the organization informed each on Monday that they would not be renewed.
Miam intends to retain the rest of manager Don Mattingly's staff in 2019.

Expected back are: Tim Wallach (bench), Mike Pagliarulo (hitting), Fredi Gonzalez (third base), Brian Schneider (catching), Dean Treanor (bullpen), Rob Flippo (bullpen coordinator) and Ed Lucas (administrative coach).

They should pull the college basketball move and hire Victor Mesa Sr. to a position on the coaching staff. No rules on how much they can pay him...

I guess it makes more sense that they just weren't renewed rather than fired.

One would have to assume most of the staff will change again next year, though, as I don't see them sticking with Mattingly.

Am i confusing Tino Martinez with someone else or wasnt he our hitting coach at some point during Loria's ownership?

i know youre not being serious but there are rules against that i believe if it is clearly done for the purpose of evading IFA bonus pool rules.

Edit- Didnt even think about the fact that he was a former cuban baseball star so it might be legal as it would technically be done for legal purposes as opposed to just paying a random father of an IFA.

No, you're not.....it's that Tino Martinez.

Even if done for 'legal' reasons, it wouldn't look good, though.

haha i knew it was tino martinez i just couldnt remember if it was him who was our hitting coach or someone else. It feels like we've had about 50 hitting coaches in the last 10 years.

Can we keep a running tab of the 'recent' former Marlins having big impacts on playoff teams. With Eovaldi pulling off the game of his career against the Yankees and Stanton/Yelich helping get their teams to where they are, I think it would be a sadistic kind of fun to see.

Enrique Hernandez was huge for the Dodgers this year. Austin Barnes last.

Somehow, I think we've probably had fewer hitting coaches than managers.

There was supposedly some mike hill virtual interview thing today and he specifically brought up "adding some cubans soon." I doubt hed bring that up by himself if they werent fully confident in at least getting the Mesa's.
