I mean, it’s good news.
But I feel like it falls short of the HUGE category.
Signing Jacob deGrom in 2020 would be HUGE.

To be fair, he’s the #1 international prospect after most of the best international prospects have already signed before he became a free agent.
It’s nice to see they’re spending on IFAs, and he could very well be good. How good will he be? Probably not as good as most fans are hoping based off of the scouting reports.

yep we're getting the best leftover old stale sandwich out there this year

And of course Fish16 is jumping up & down and rubbing himself because these guys are gonna give us 3 maybe 4 wins extra in a couple of years.
Is it bigger than the Orestes Destrade signing ? Fish16 don't use a whole box of Kleenex now brah, save some for the FA signings of Lucas Dudas, Sogard and Iwakuma

From June:

There's little consensus among scouts on how to rank the 2018 class from top to bottom. This year's class is also sandwiched between an exciting 2017 class and a very impressive group coming in 2019, only compounding uncertainty for this year's group of prospects, according to Baseball America's Ben Badler.
That being said, there's certainly firepower at the top, headlined by Cuban prospect Victor Victor Mesa—this year's top international free agent.
MLB has yet to declare Mesa a free agent, though, meaning he won't sign right away on July 2nd.

VV is a prospect, obviously they dont all work out. But he wasnt the number 1 prospect in the IFA market just because he was the only one still unsigned. He was unanimously the best international guy by all accounts out of anyone in this years class, not just the remaining guys.

Look these people traded the likely NL MVP (on a God Damn club friendly contract_ for Lewis Brinson and Monte Harris, who at this time don't even look like that they will EVER be able to hit .270 at the AA level) - so a big "YAWN".....
And this is soooooooo 1% stereotyping pandering. The Mesa's are Cuban so naturally all the peasant Cubans will flock to the stadium to see them - people like Jeter think that the fans are so stupid that just getting a Cuban is going to turn on the simpleton peasants in Little Havana ! Just like THEY are the ones that made sure to make a HUGE point last year in the trade for Brinson that he was a local kid - how is that working out ? Buses full of folks from Ft Lauderdale are just flocking to watch him K at a record setting pace. That attendance sure got a boost didn't it ?

Again, they happen to be cuban, that doesnt mean they are signing them to pander to cubans. they got the #1 IFA prospect on the market this year and of coure you complain. In no way are they signing him because the guy is cuban, but what else would we expect from you the king of cynicism.
