Another reason to not just give up on a season just because other teams added a ton of guys/spent a bunch of money....

        Agree 100%

They did everything right except the most important thing. If they went out and got a premier FA SS, they would instantly be a Wild Card contender as constructed.

But if there were more to do and places to eat/drink on the bottom of those parking garages i would probably go a little more and just leave work earlier.

the other thing i would do is get rid of the seats in the upper deck in RF and do what the braves did at their new ball park. this stadium does not need 37k seats. Get rid of those seats and do what the braves do with that area where the chop house is. IF you havent been to the new braves stadium, id highly recommend going if you're ever in atlanta. The area around the ballpark is phenomenal. I get their ballpark is in a different area, but it's really a great place to go see a game.
Again, agree 100%. The Battery Park area at the Braves ballpark in Cobb County is outstanding. It’s a destination. My Mom lived in Gwinnett County for year up until 2019 and my family and I went to a half dozen games there.

The Marlins have something kinda going with the Budweiser bar area and Recess (the old Clevelander area) but they are missing the train as far as being a destination.

I will say that Marlins Park is better than Yankee Stadium as far as food goes and just as good as Citi Field and Truist Park.

and as far as costs go,Marlins Park is solid. My 10 game plan for 3 seats is $420 TOTAL out the door with 10% of all food/drinks/merchandise. You can’t find better value in MLB.

          oh well.

We ticked up to 80 wins at PECOTA

we are 6 wins away from being true WC contenders. It’s frustrating.

            • If you go to 6+ games a year, I highly recommend a 10 game plan. You can exchange any game you want if you have conflicts. And in a World Baseball Classic year, a Marlins Membership is a no brainer. I got the full WBC 15 game strip for $612 (3 seats). Not $612 per seat. $612 total.

                That's pretty good!

The problem with Marlins park is also the surrounding area - there really isn't anything nearby (within walking distance) to draw people to the area. It's starting to grow, but things are still too far away to truly have a Battery park type setup.

The Jeter & Co. stadium revamp definitely improved the food - it wasn't bad before, but it took the "taste of Miami" concept and multiplied it across the whole park rather than a little corner.....and made it feel like you're getting something more special than "generic stadium food (burgers, tenders, etc)" for stadium prices.

You mean Correa/Nimmo/Swanson/Turner/Xander + a minor league trade not involving Eury/Berry/Eder away

i think 1 more bat and 1 more back end bullpen arm is really what we would need to put us into contention. but even with that said, i dont think our division is as daunting as it's made out to be. The Phillies had a good run in the playoffs last year but harper is out for half the year so that could keep them from having a truly amazing year. The braves i think are by far the best team in the division and will win it, but the mets i think might be a little overrated or at least have a team that is incredibly injury prone that could derail their season. They already have Diaz out for the year, Quintana is already out till midseason, and they have a lot of other guys that are injury prone. Marte is injured often and is only getting older, Nimmo has an injury history, and those top 2 starters while being first ballot hall of famers, are old as shit. Of course they will be good, but i dont think it is out of the realm of possibility for them to have a nightmare year with injuries.

If we can get reynolds or a SS and add a backend bullpen arm for a prospect, we need to do it now.

The Mets projection with all their troubles probably drops from 98 wins to 93 wins at worst. Still a playoff lock for me. I think the thing with them is, everyone can get hurt.... and Alvarez and Baty are both going to be extremely good quickly (I think anyways) so that sucks for us for the next 7 seasons. And they'll just do something ludicrous at the deadline because "Steve." They have both internal and financial depth.

Phillies I don't disagree with. Harper being out, Painter being hurt, and getting one down performance from any of their top 6-7 guys will get them to mid-80s land quick. I agree with the needing 6 more wins for the Marlins to get to that on paper, so if they could cut into half of that before the season (call it Gleyber as that seems more realistic than Reynolds), that would be extremely helpful. I fear budget is tapped out with Iglesias/Gurriel being hopes and prayers as Gleyber would add $6m after trading Cooper (I presume Cooper would be the trade for the reliever guy here), but maybe they'd have that budget to make it happen. Who else is going to be available right now besides the Yankees moving payroll to clear the space for Volpe/Peraza immediately you know? Sending epic minor league pitching for Mountcastle and praying he works out (amazing statcast profile), and maybe getting Westburg in that deal too?

It's just the constant WTF were these last 2 offseasons where they didn't anticipate they would need this guy? I can buy not anticipating needing arms because Meyer/Bender/Poteet/Ede/Sixto did all get hurt the last 2 years and they may all be on the team right now if they were healthy, but in what world was a mega-bat really anywhere (especially CF or SS though) not anticipated?

That's the bizarre thing - the plan was there on paper set up to sign a big bat - years of low payroll, waiting for the pitching to build up and THEN strike with a big signing. Instead we did all that, and then nothing.

                        • Fangraphs has the Braves as the best team in MLB right now. We might not win a game in Atlanta this year.

They consider Soler and Garcia big bat signings.

True. We keep hoping they'll spend an average amount

                              • After I said this morning the Mets appear to be super injury prone, now nimmo seems to get pretty hurt vs us. And we havent even gotten to their top two starters who are close to 80 years old combined. Spike got caught when he went to slide. Hope he’s fine, but that sure as shit looks like another acl type knee injury. He wasn’t going hard enough to second though to look like a complete blow out of his knee, but well see
