Also if I were the Twins, I'd trade Polanco before Arraez and move Arraez to 2B.
Polanco and Royce also makes a ton of sense. It opens up Wendle to Boston still and the Marlins could do
Fortes/Stallings
Cooper
Jazz, ___
Polanco
Segura, Berti
DLC, Sanchez/ Bleday
____
Garcia
Soler
They've been linked to Profar right? Who can play 1B/2B/LF
Royce is out till mid-season also, so you sit on him here. Since this only cost Pablo.... you STILL fucking trade for Bryan Reynolds and let Royce decide where he's going to play longterm whether that be SS or CF. Wanna try him and Jazz in CF in the spring? Go with it with this depth chart.
Basically, Twins guys all work here but I think you get Royce or Arraez. Both would be amazing. Polanco and Kepler both absolutely work as second players.

holy hell, max kepler has the lowest career BABIP ive ever seen. .248 for his career, never above .276. How is that possible?
@tlschwerz, a minnesota writer, says the following on twitter:
#MNTwins deal with #Marlins for Lopez would also not be 1-for-1 from what I have been told.
and
The #Marlins already traded one starter tonight. Not sure how close this is with #MNTwins, but sides are working.
and
Have a feeling, if this deal does go through, some #MNTwins fans will be pretty shocked at the price for #Marlins Pablo Lopez. He's also very good.
and
Luis Arraez is not, and has never been, enough to land Pablo Lopez on his own. Wasn't constructed that way when I reported on talks last month, and isn't now.

If they can steal Lewis & Arraez & kepler for pablo plus i dont care what the other pieces are. I could see it being cooper to replace Arraez, and maybe they take on some of the salary of a soler or maybe salas/cappe to replace Lewis in their system?
Mish is saying he's not going to report anything until it's done.

marlins mentioning Yuli gurriel as a potential FA as well.... IF cooper is dealt, that's a name id look out for. He's saying they want another option at 1b, including possibly fortes. He says he will likely be the opening day 1b, but dont rule out another option. Yuli Gurriel might be a bench option.
Also saying Arraez will be in the deal and then plays dumb about lewis when asked if he would also be asked. Clearly trying not to blow anything regarding a potential deal that is currently being discussed. Then says he hasnt heard lewis' name at all.
Also says Soler looks like he's in incredible shape and crushing balls and that the new hit coach has changed everything completely. And sanchez is on the outside looking in as a starter, and bleday they are lukewarm on, not super high.Last edited by fish16; 01-11-2023, 10:02 PM.

Kepler is a great 110 game starter. But that's all he is. Which is fine, but someone in that OF is going to have to hit lefties. You can do so many projections with the Twins, but Arraez, Kepler, and rounding it out with the prize - Reynolds/Bednar - would be really something if they can pull it off.
vs RHP
Fortes/Stallings
Cooper/Arraez
Jazz
Wendle
Segura/Arraez
Reynolds
Kepler
Garcia/DLC/Soler
Soler/Arraez
B - Fortes/Stallings, Berti, two of Cooper/Arraez/Segura/Garcia/DLC/Soler, predominantly DLC and rotating off day for the other 5
vs LHP
Fortes/Stallings
Cooper
Arraez
Segura
Berti
DLC/Reynolds
Reynolds/DLC
Garcia
Soler
B - Fortes/Stallings, Jazz, Wendle, Kepler
Yes I know we love Jazz, but it works.
It's truly a very good lineup and Sandy, Luzardo, Rogers/Cabrera (other for Reynolds package), Cueto, and Garrett, w/ presumably Eury and Eder coming is no joke. Even better if you sign someone like Wacha for the bullpen, etc. etc.

If Pablo gets both of them (Arraez and Kepler, or even Polanco), it works *IF* there is still the last major upgrade and it is Reynolds. Rogers/Cabrera, Meyer, Salas, and 2-3 more guys not in top 10 gets that done. Maybe even Rosario works here in some permutation.
We'll see what happens.
