I love the guy but he looks out of shape in every photo and video I see of him.
If he’s ultimately a bust, Jeter will have traded Yelich and Realmuto for jack shit. That’s pretty wild.
But yea. Sixto working out - even into a Floro/Bender reliever - would really change the dynamic and make it look much better as a whole. I view ditching Stanton money as a win, so that would make it a net positive for me. I'm still not done with Isan either - .256 BABIP / 12.3% BB in 2021. He's been slow to adjust at all levels. Maybe he's a AAAA guy, but if he can hit .240.... which is just a .300 BABIP away.....

He is what, 27? With a fastball that sits in the 80s and subpar secondary pitches
He has no business being on an MLB roster let alone in a starting rotation.

I think pablo and fillers for Marsh/Adell and fillers and then signing Jansen would be phenomenal. I never like signing closers but I feel like in this situation its worth it. We have a lot of quality bullpen arms but none I really want in a closers role. If you sign him, it pushes everyone else in the pen down a role and I think that would help alleviate some of the pressure on guys like Bass and Bender. All of a sudden, you have 2 qualified set up men in those 2 guys, another lefty in Bleier, and another quality reliever in Floro. That's a really solid bullpen with potential for upside from the rotation leftovers like Cabrera, Sixto, etc.

He is great for 5 innings every 5th day and never facing a lineup a 3rd time. Ideally he can settle into a middle reliever multiple inning role, but he is absolutely capable as a back end rotation piece
A perfect set up to start the year and then reassess in June may be Cabrera throwing fire for 1-2 innings (get through heart of order), then bring in Elisier to go through the lineup two times and pull him when the lineup turns back over to leadoff or # 2 hitter. Then, you can flip that around at the all star break and do the exact opposite - pull Hernandez 1 time through and then let Cabrera go 2+ times through depending on how he's doing. It helps both their innings, and keeps them both fresh for a hypothetical run. Unleash the bullpen fourth time through the lineup which is obvious.
I want those two throwing approx. 250 innings combined, split pretty close 50/50 on innings, and I wouldn't be shocked if it's 2-3 WAR.

Give me an Angels Trade where we get:
Brandon Marsh and Sam Bachman
for
Pablo Lopez, Brian Anderson and Anthony Bass
use that money you saved shedding those 3 to sign Jansen.
Sign Zach Greinke and a DH with pop (Rizzo/Schwarber/Castellanos)
and I'll be happy. Probably wishful thinking.

Brandon Marsh # 15 overall prospect 2021, Burdick N/A
Burdick is fine, we all like him. Hopefully he is a more athletic Josh Willingham masher. But your stats are very bad.

I'd do that trade - Marsh, Vera, Jackson, and a 11-20 guy. I'd also downgrade Anderson to Cooper and downgrade Vera to whoever as an alternative for a plan B (that's a better idea IMO to shed Cooper versus Anderson and they could use Cooper easily).
I'd then be all on board for Rizzo/Schwarber/Castellaos, Greinke, and then call it 2-3 bench/bullpen upgrades. Kenley may be too expensive, but there will be options for both bench/bullpen to have it make sense.

Stallings, Forte

Jazz

Anderson, Wendle
Sanchez, DLC
Marsh
Garcia
Rizzo/Schwarber (Castellanos too expensive)
Sandy, Rogers, Greinke, Hernandez, Luzardo
Kenley/Expensive Reliever, Bender, Floro, Cabrera, Pop, Head
Bleier, Okert
DL - Sixto
AAA - Meyer, Bleday, Burdick, Jeremiah Jackson, A. Jackson, Henry, Isan, Garrett, Neidert, Poteet, Holloway.......... And they've retained all major prospects
This is a 100% happy scenario for me

BUT, with Anderson, I think you can get Vera (# 3 prospect) and Jeremiah Jackson is a very very Marlins upside player (#9 prospect). They even compare him to Jazz and he can play 3B. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-41-p...ngeles-angels/

Which is also why swap Cooper for Anderson in your hypo and take their #3/4 prospect instead. Anderson is also better for the Marlins and they have Rendon you know? Their OF is still Upton-Trout-Adell, with Walsh at 1B and Walsh/Cooper playing LF/RF/DH. It works for them for sure.
