Fish on the Farm@marlinsminors.@CraigMish stated on today’s @SwingsAndMishes that in addition to the #Marlins signing a closer, a major trade is ready to be executed once the lockout ends.
This could be a transformative week for this franchise.
So we are almost assuredly signing Jansen and then making a marsh type trade for a CF I'm assuming.

Interesting. I just listened to the very beginning of his podcast this morning, but he said they had a deal on the table that they didn't take before the "deadline" (I'm assuming he means before the lockout) that would have made everyone really happy. He mentioned this when talking about how the Marlins could make some big moves without necessarily spending a bunch of money to do it, so I'd guess it's a relatively cheap/young player. I wonder who that would be. I also wonder why they didn't take it, and if they will once the lockout ends.

So I just listened to the whole podcast.
-He said from everything he knows the narratives out there that Jeter leaving were due to solidarity with the players, or because the team isn't going to spend is flat out wrong.
-He said he feels bad for the people in the building that were hired by Jeter that may not be retained when a new CEO is brought in, but he doesn't think this is a bad thing for the organization. He mentioned he knows of some deals that happened because of Jeter, and some that didn't happen because of Jeter, and he thinks they can do better.
-He thinks they'll hire a CEO with baseball experience, that hopefully works well with Ng. He mentioned he doesn't really think it was a great collaborative environment previously and suggested Ng wasn't ready to fulfill all of the GM duties, which led Jeter to do a some of it.
-Now to the good stuff. He said there are two blockbuster deals Miami has been looking at, and he expects them to complete one of them after the lockout is over. He said it's a really good player coming back ("not a Mike Trout, so some may not believe it to be great immediately, but after some research you'll be very happy). Interestingly he mentioned how they needed a CF more than anything, which kind of walks back what he said before about Garcia playing there. He did say the cost is going to be big with both big prospects, and a good player on the roster (I'm kind of assuming Brian Anderson based on some things he's said before) going out the door.
-He also said he thinks they'll sign a closer.
-Overall, though, he said he thinks ownership wants to win, and wants to win now. He said Sherman is a rich guy with nothing to do, but run a baseball team, and he doesn't think his motives are to make every cent they can, unlike the Loria regime.

Moving BA opens up a hole at 3rd, though. Unless they're signing Bryant to fill that gap, that only shifts the hole around.

So I don't really see FO personnel really changing much unless they want to move on or if Ng wants to make changes (presumably she'd be given more/fuller autonomy now). It wouldn't be "you're fired because Jeter is gone."

So Mish said on Spaces on twitter tonight when asked about the current Marlins player he was talking about who could be shipped out in one of these trades that he didn’t think both Anderson and Wendel will be on the team this year. He said either one could realistically be traded. He apparently mentioned on the Le Batard show that Jeter vetoed a Reynolds deal. On Spaces he said the return would have been massive and basically wiped out their minor league assets. He wouldn’t get into who these two deals would be for but someone asked him about the Blue Jays OFers and he dodged it kind of mentioning that people could speculate on those two and Marte.
He also said Sixto is hurt again.

Encouraging or cheap? This will be interesting.
I'm fine trading B. Anderson if that opens up other moves. He's good and cheap, and they'd need another platoon 3B guy at minimum, but they can handle that.
