Of course it is. We can merely leap or react to what actually happens.

Sanchez, Rodgers and Garrett all cuffed around in their last starts ... while Guzman had his best.
It couldn't possibly be because he was the team's best starter before getting hurt...

Bleday signed for $6,667,000, and the deal is done.

Let’s trade the only lefty who is exhibiting # 2 SP potential and controlled for 4 more years

It’s an unbelievable stretch. The only exception is if there is no confidence he stays healthy, then sure sell damaged goods

I think you may be selling Rogers and Garrett short. They are well ahead of Smith at this point in their careers.

i hate to say this but i actually agree with lee on this. Dont think we should trade smith unless we get a top prospect bat back, but Garrett and Rogers to me both have #2 rotation talent to me, especially garrett. That's exactly the potential that garrett was said to have when we drafted him.

            • They're also in A-Ball.

For all our pitchers, every single one of them. We should be listening to offers, but actively shopping a particular one of them at this point doesn't make sense to me.

              • they will also be in AA within the next few weeks, but agreed. I was just saying that they both have #2 type potential.

In one of the biggest pitcher's parks in the minors.

Let's not over rate all of our prospects like fans of every team. These guys are good, but Garret had a mid-rotation, and Rogers bullpen, projection before the year.

Ticking them up to # 2 starter potential is like saying they are top 50 prospects in baseball, and I have a hard time believing that at this moment.

no one is ticking them up to #2 starter potential. the first thing everyone said with garrett was that he was a #2 potential guy when he was drafted. Nothing has changed except he is a year behind where we thought he would be because of the TJ.

remembered that it was namaste who was giving me shit in the offseason for saying we had SP depth now.

I always roll my eyes a little every time fish16 brings up our “starting pitching depth”.

I know he’s going to say we have eleven gazillion REALLY solid #4’s and that is arguably true but I still roll my eyes a little because our “starting pitching depth” gets mentioned a lot.
fish16 thinks we don’t need any more starting pitching.

                    He’s a funny guy.
I think we're good on SP. Just playing though cause i have some gems in my old posts as well. Going back and looking at some of the old threads from old drafts are funny as hell too. The yelich thread from when we first drafted him is great.

keith law came out with his mid season top 50 list and of course he was down on sixto. i dont think he's ever had a postiive thing to say about any marlins prospect.

                    • Minnesota seems like a great bet to do some sort of Rojas/Romo/Richards trade. Have no idea what theyd be willing to give up but Rooker makes sense for us, as does arraez. Makes sense for them to add solid pieces that will help them but not cost a ton. And the yankees seem like a smart bet to try to get one of our starters as well given the relationship with Denbo. If im the marlins i try to get my hands on Clint Frazier and see if we can find a spot for him either in a corner OF role or try him at 1b. We need bats too much and they have no room for him for a deal like that not to make sense.

Arraez is their longterm 2B (they hope anyways) and Adrianza is a fine backup. They don't need Rojas. They don't need any bats. They are awesome.

Pitching for sure. They should move Larnach for a SP stud like Bumgarner or Wheeler as they don't need so many redundant OF, and...

Move the Marlins something like Miranda/Severino, Jeffers, Raley, and Alcala (https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-41-p...nnesota-twins/) for Richards and Romo. They need a young SP big time and a backend one is fine. Those guys aren't top prospects, and would be solid for Richards. That's another Devers, Banfield, Dean, and Brigham for comparison's sake with Marlins guys.

                        • Why does Richards' name appear in these trade discussions as opposed to Alcantara, Gallen, Smith, for example?

Because he’s the worst one and hits arbitration first. He’s least needed if they do move a SP

                            • Good news- mattingly said elieser will work out of the bullpen in high leverage situations. I think he will become closer once Romo is dealt
