Apparently Conley's FB last inning was 3 mph slower than its been all year. Same thing happened with Caleb Smith the day before he went on the DL.

give me Isan diaz already. I get that we're trying to build value for these vets but we arent getting anything aside from IFA money at this point for Castro, Romo, Granderson, and maybe even neil walker at this point. Either that or a low level prospect who never really develops into much. Let's see Isan, and after a few more weeks bring brinson up and see if he's improved at all after a few months boosting his confidence in AAA. Beats seeing these retread vets also struggle to hit. IF we're gonna struggle to hit regardless, might as well do it with your young kids now that service time implications are gone.

Marlins should have won today. More expected runs than the Nats, lot of hard hit balls with >.500 hit chance % that were outs. Nationals were lucky and the Marlins unlucky.

I just went to his twitter to see what that noise is about. Didn't find Didi commentary, but he is somehow saying VMJr would have been a no doubt 1st rounder if draft eligible when the rest of the scouting community disagrees. Fangraphs doesn't even give him a FV3 and not in top 37 marlins prospects. Terrible.

Checks stats....... Didi hitting .313/.337/.488 in 2019..... and 33rd overall in position player WAR 2015-2018. Yea ok.

I mean, if Didi is going to be 5/$100 yea no thanks. But that's not going to be the deal.

They should shoot for like 4/$64 if he proves he is healthy. Start at 3 though.

I think the fangraphs and other scouting sites grades on VM Jr. is more to do with the fact that no one had seen him play and his age rather than their true opinions on him.

yamamoto touched 95 tonight. fastest he's thrown thus far and a far cry from the high 80s low 90s he was said to max out at. wonder if he could be like pablo lopez and develop more velocity over time

Weird to say this but Yamamoto is more effective than Gallen in the small sample size. By quite a bit actually.

completely agreed. I said this the other day but gallen doesnt look like he has the poise to finish off hitters yet. Which is normal for a younger pitcher but it's something he's gonna obviously need to improve on if he's gonna stick. It's why his pitch counts have been so high and he wasnt able to get deep into games in his first 2 starts.

Yamamoto is a different pitcher though given his more pitch to contact and keep hitters off balance style. This leads to him having more efficient pitch counts so that could be why he looks like he is more effective so far. FWIW gallen's FIP is slightly lower and his xFip is almost a full run lower in a short sample size.

i hate when we attribute credit to a hitting coach or pitching coach based on performance because there is only so much they can do to effect the performance, but stottlemeyer jr. has seemed to have a real impact on some of these young pitchers.

agreed. i like fredi but he's always been an awful 3rd base coach. sometimes he's foolishly aggressive and others he's foolishly cautious.
