4 consecutive walks will do it.

Maybe Mattingly too. Broken record, seriously terrible with bullpen management (even noting his lack of assets out there).

          • Conley is awful.

            • It's really impressive how bad Adam Conley has become.

              • At least Pablo and Anderson are pretty good and there is some hope for a solid 7th inning guy in Guerrero and Brice?

                • Tank is back on track! At least our long term pieces are performing. That's what matters to me.

Yea I mean this is what matters ultimately. Hopefully Romo and Conley can pull together 8+ good outings in a row so someone "gambles" on them for a guy outside their top 30 prospects. Today was not good.

                    Aug 1st bullpen?

                    N. Anderson
                    Guerrero
                    Brice
                    E. Hernandez
                    Brigham
                    Ferrell
                    Garcia
                    Quijada

With Noesi, I guess Keller and Kinley, and maybe some trade returns pushing that from AAA?

Good lord Sixto, Neidert, Guzman, E. Cabrera, Holloway, Yamamoto, and Dugger need to get MLB ready.

I came by to suggest that Mattingly should be fired.

His handling of Romo and Kinley today was, for me, the straw that broke the camels back.

i just pray he is gone when we are actually trying to win. im sure he's good for the young guys as they mature, but when we're actually trying to compete he better not be here any more. his bullpen and rotation management has been trash since he got here. It's not simply not having options this year, it's when he uses them and how he uses them at times. it's maddening.

                        • I don’t see what Mattingly did that was so wrong today. It’s not his fault that the bullpen is garbage.

I don’t mind explaining because you must have not watched the 9th inning and beyond.

When you’re a manager, you have to have a good feel for when one (or more) of your guys “doesn’t have it” today. It happens sometimes. A normally ok reliever just looks like hot garbage and it’s clearly evident to half the people in the stadium. The manager needs to pick up on this.

                            Exhibit A

When Romo reaches the point of RONALD ACUNA IS IN THE BATTERS BOX AND REPRESENTS THE TYING RUN, you walk out to the mound, grab the ball and have someone else (anyone else) have a go at Acuna. Don’t forget, Romo came into the game with a 4 run lead and facing the bottom of the order.

                            Exhibit B

Tyler Kinley walked FOUR consecutive batters. I don’t want my favorite team managed by a guy who lets a reliever walk four consecutive batters. There were other arms left in the pen. You walk 4 guys in a row and you can go fuck yourself in the locker room.

Romo was the right guy to pitch the 9th. The alternative was...Tyler Kinley who you hated in the 10th.
It’s Romo’s fault for not getting the job done.

Hmmmmm it seems you did not understand my post. I’m not saying it was a mistake to have Romo start the 9th with a 4-run lead.

The unforgivable mistake was having Romo continue pitching when it reached the point of it being a 3 run lead and Acuna being the tying run in the batters box
