Jose Urena has quietly had a much improved year from last year based on his peripherals. HOpe they keep him for next year and deal straily, Urena still has 3 years of team control and is a very solid back of the rotation guy. Needs to go deeper into games and therefore pitch more innings to take the next step though

I don't care who opens the 2019 season with the Marlins. All I know is the September 2019 starting rotation should look like (imo)...
Dan Straily (he's cheap, cost controlled and still in prime years. No reason to rush a bad trade)
Jose Urena
Sandy Alcantara
Trevor Richards
Nick Neidert
Jordan Yamamoto, Zac Gallen, Merandy Gonzalez, Jeff Brigham, Dillon Peters are the next guys in line.
I also want to say Dustin Beggs and Cody Poteet earn the 'Tom Koehler' award for pitcher who is likely to be thrown into unimportant games in June then suddenly become the team's #5 starter for multiple years.

I see no need to trade for pitching, which is fortunate because the team needs a whole new everyday lineup.Last edited by Lee Stone; 09-24-2018, 02:04 AM.

I really wish given our depth of SP that we make richards a reliever unless theyfeel he has another step he can take. He looks to me like he maxed out his potential as a starter and has real potential as a middle relief weapon who can go multiple innings because his changeup is absurd.

In any event, Galloway has won at life by getting to the bigs both on personal and financial levels. It's a nice story of perseverance. He should position himself to be a coach in a few years and he's set.

If anyone wants to be thoroughly annoyed go look at Trevor Williams numbers for the year and look what we traded him for and how soon after we spent a high pick on him that we traded him for that garbage. The throwing away of draft picks for years is why our farm system was the way it was which necessitated a rebuild.

Jeff believed in if u were NOT on a Top 10 list that u were garbage which is why teams always were raping us
Will NOT happen anymore!!!

All 3 of those trades are awful tho. I especially hated the Paddack trade because you could tell just how dominant he was at an early age.

Dont even get me started on the joke that was that cashner deal. I said it at the time that was absolutely pathetic. And we got incredibly lucky that we were able to get Castillo back or else it would have been an even bigger disaster.

Williams isn't that good despite this season. That's some Pirates magic. He is a Koehler. I agree though, still annoying as club controlled Koehler's are useful.
The only ones I think that kill me are Hand, Castillo, Paddack, and maybe DeScalfani (if he can stay healthy). Those 4 guys would be very useful for obvious reasons. I would feel great dropping Castillo and Paddack on the current staff and drafting bats first 10 picks

Rotographs lists the current top ten Marlin prospects. Hilarious! Maybe one player deserves to be there, Neidert. The rest of the top five? I'd say pitchers Yamamoto, Beggs, Eveld and Austin Dean. Admittedly, that's based on only the reality of their performance over the past season.Last edited by Lee Stone; 09-25-2018, 02:58 PM.
