  • Finally getting bites on Straily and Castro(with cash) from contenders

Teams looking at our RP(Bearclaw,Steck,Conley,Ziegler) are Hou/NYY/Boston/Cubs/LAD/Atl/Philly/SF. Teams are trying to rent Britton right now but when his deal is done Conley is next on alot of team lists. Some teams like Conley more but he costs MORE than Britton

Names to watch in ANY Houston deal are Corbin Martin,Jorge Alcala,Freudis Nova,Arauz and Garrett Stubbs. They like Alvarez but doubtful on a RP and they also like a few other mid level arms

Still NOTHING on Oakland or Colorado. Looks like they are gonna wait till Monday/Tuesday to decide if they are buying or not

Washington is still deciding whether to offer Robles/more for JT. If not looks like he is staying here till Oct and they will offer an extension

    • J.D. Davis is somebody I'd be interested in from Houston.

JD Davis and AJ Reed are both solid options. Both are 25 and MLB ready

Looking like Britton and Familia will be the next 2 RP to go somewhere. Teams are trying to buy low with FA to be rather than pay crazy for a controllable guy this early

        • I know the Dodgers just gave up a bunch of the system for Manny Machado, but I feel like they should make an effort for Starlin Castro. They were playing Chase Utley before he retired, and Logan Forsythe has nearly 200 AB's with a .558 OPS. Starlin Castro could legitimately be a big boost to that lineup. It makes sense.

I'm not sure I see it.

            Grandal, Barnes
            Bellinger
            Muncy, Forsythe, Utley
            Machado
            Turner, E. Hernandez
            Pederson
            Taylor
            Kemp

            Barnes can play 2B
            Bellinger can play OF
            Muncy can play 1B/3B
            Machado can play 3B
            E. Hernandez can play everywhere
            Taylor can play 2B/SS
            Good OF depth in minors

Forsythe is on the bench. Yea, Castro is better right now for sure, but they ain't going in the luxury tax for their 2nd or 3rd bench bat. And Forsythe has a low BABIP and was objectively good 2015-2017 so there is hope.

They are a fantastic place to move Barraclough. That's what I think they need.

            • Though no one seems to talk about it, Straily seems like the most obvious trade candidate to me. He's strung together quality starts at the right time. The Nats or Mariners seem like good destinations - with Nats having better prospects.

              • I don’t think teams are drooling over Straily and his xFIP that’s approaching 5.00.

                  NYY are looking at Straily

Anyone wondering what we can get for our 3 CONTROLLABLE RP

A's are reportedly getting FA(Rental) Familia for prospects including Jorge Mateo.

Some people said they asked for Murphy and settled on Mateo or Lazarito as centerpiece. Still nice to see Oakland is buying-maybe they can use a DD or Castro?

                  • Straily and DD both helped their value last night. Both can help a number of teams and bring back a good return. If Familia can get a top 100 prospect back then Barraclough and Conley should bring back a good haul.

Don't be surprised to see 1 of Straily OR Conley to NYY. No clue who we want in return(Denbo/Greenlee probably have names) Nick Nelson/Deivi Garcia/Trevor Stephan/Dermis Garcia are mid level prospects

LAD still looking hard at Bearclaw OR Steck. We are still pushing for a C(Will Smith OR Ruiz) but they have alot of stuff we are interested in like Mitchell White/Yadier Alvarez/May/Lux/Estevez

                      Would love to see
                      Straily-NYY
                      Bearclaw-LAD
                      Conley-Hou
                      DD-Clev
                      Ziegler-Atl
                      Castro/Holaday/Maybin-?
                      JT-Stays unless Robles
                      Steck-Stays unless an overpay

Among the others shopping for relievers include the Dodgers. Marlins are open for business, including Kyle Barraclough and Drew Steckenrider, and Keone Kela is a similar impact piece available from the Rangers.

                          • The team is playing pretty good, and all we can talk about is, how we can break up a team that has had a winning record over the last 50 games.

And people blame me for being cynical. So trade guys that are playing decent for prospects that could be the next Kyle Skipworth or Jeremy Hermida.

Life of a Marlins fan is perpetual depression. Nothing has changed....it still feels like Loria is in charge.

Yeah how could they possibly call you cynical? This post is just a bed of fucking roses.

Team's playing well, but not good enough to make the playoffs this year. So you set yourself up for when you will be able to compete. Every person on this board wants J.T. Realmuto re-signed, and he should be part of any future plan for the team if he's willing to re-sign. Trading Relief Pitching is a no-brainer, due to the volatility of the role, you trade relief pitching for future starters, then build the bullpen when you're ready to compete. Guys like Castro, Dietrich and Straily are good players, but not players you build around, if someone is willing to give a nice package of prospects and it frees up money to spend more wisely down the road of course you do it. We're not blowing up the team here. That's already happened.

Yeah but at least they are winning, something we have only seen as Marlins fans 6 seasons in their whole history. 6 out of 25, and just when they have a team that is playing well, let's break it up.

It's the same story no matter who the owner, let's take away players anytime you start to appreciate their play. It's almost as if we're NEVER allowed to enjoy winning play - MLB has some secret rule - if the Marlins start winning we can't allow that for very long.

There is no chance of ever building a loyal fanbase if you continue this constant revolving door of players. What if the next set of trades bring back 2 or 3 more Lewis Brinson's ??? We're then totally fucked for years. And knowing the past luck of this team I'm completely ready for that to happen. I mean I almost expect it.

And if you think my mindset is an abberation from most people in Miami, just look at the enthusiasm and crowds that go to the games. Most people in Miami just don't care anymore....and Jeter I think is delusional if he believes just a winning team will fix this situation....because folks here are afraid that if they start caring the team will be broken up....hence they want no part of it.

Still to this day you rarely hear of any Marlins chatter on local radio shows such a Joe Rose's show on WQAM. They talk about the Dolphins, the Heat and the Hurricanes and maybe about the Marlins to say "oh they won a game last night" and then follow it up with "but folks don't get too excited the trading deadline is almost here".

By the way I thought that one of the things Jeter would change is promoting the team locally on radio and TV, yet I haven't seen a change in that at all. Again it's just like Loria is still running the show. I haven't heard a single player interviewed or an appearance anywhere.
